THE LAST OF US *Spoiler Thread* (Story only discussion)

Some of my thought on the actual gameplay, and end game spoiler kinda
I seemed to play this differently at times, at first it was all sneaky stealth snake style, i would try and get through without using guns if i could help it. Half way through it was a case of do what ever was easiest to do to get through, if it was stealth, gun fight or just running away it worked for me. At the very end of the game it was more like Joel Rambo, doing what i could to murder those S.O.Bs that had my Ellie. At the end with the Docs I killed the one i had to, but the other 2 wasnt a threat so left them and concentrated on getting Ellie out of there, thought i had done enough killing that day. Oh and Ellie with a bow far more hardcore than wimpering/screaming Lara Croft

So basically Joel is a bit of a selfish douche... Hmmmm!

It does come across that way but perhaps he just felt that humankind wasn't worth saving... lets face it all throughout the game humans were *****, murder, rape, that dudes gang chopping people up to sell them as meat. Not to mention his daughter Sarah was shot by a human who could have so easily helped them.

At least the infected worked together and didn't fight among themselves, once humans die off the infected will do too presumably and then giraffes will rule the world. hehe

Finished last night 17hrs on hard no listen mode and its been one of the best gaming experiances since half life 2 for me anyway. I dont know i just got soo involved :) will let it settle in a bit before survivor mode

As a game in a way i would like this to stay standalone but due to its reviews and sales sony may push a sequel which i wouldnt mind either

Multiplayer is suprisingly fun and tense too, may get the season pass to support the dogs

By the end of the game I had plenty of ammo to take care of the enemies... Even if you're low on ammo, those guys drop m16's with plenty of bullets to waste. I found stealthing that part didn't feel right, it was a time of desperation and action. A gatling gun at that point would be awesome. :D

Totally opposite to my experience then :p

I had used almost all my ammo in all my weapons - I really struggled in the last hour of the game. I had to kill one enemy, and try and crawl around to grab his ammo before I got shot again :p

I'm right at the start where you go down the sewers and she says boost me up... but nothing happens, no option to do anything, is it bugged? :/

Yeah tried that plus reloading area still nothing :/ should there be a triangle sign there to show that it's interactive, as there has been with everything up to now including just picking up the back pack ?

Yeah there's usually a triangle there, are you looking up at the ledge? or are you stuck on a bit where you need to swim and get a wooden palett to help her across the water?

Just completed it now, and honestly it is probably the best game I've ever played.

I thought Deus Ex and Knights of the Old Republic would forever be the pinnacle for me, but this has blown me away from start to finish.

Now for the juicy story bits :D

The ending for me would have been perfect if it just had Joel driving the car with the pain on his face and slowly fading to black. You wouldn't know what his decision would have been, leaving it up to you to decide how the story ends.

It would have been really difficult to pull that off, as you they would have to have done something to make you think it could have gone either way, much like the ending to Inception.

But overall the ending I'm happy with, he lied to her and for me it's difficult to tell whether or not she believed it.

I have to agree the whole fire scene with David was simply incredible, there have been very few scenes on tv or on film that have been as good. The whole build up to that point was amazing too as you didn't know if Joel was alive as you took control of Ellie.

The giraffe scene was simply perfect, it gave you the hope that there could be a happy ending, and it was nice to see Ellie and Joel bond, incredibly touching.

I have to admit that i did get chocked up at the scene where Joel said you're not my daughter and I'm not your father, it was so well acted out.

I can't remember the names of the brothers, but some of the movie scenes graphically were almost real, especially the older brother. I guess it's just easier to do black skin/hair and make it look realistic.

I found the gameplay really good throughout, and I'm glad there weren't any typical boss scenes with the infected etc.

I played it with my headphones throughout and the musical score was brilliant as well as all the sound effects.

As for a sequel, i don't think i'd want one, it is perfect just the way it is.

You can argue that there are a few avenues they can take, but i don't think it would justify a full blown sequel.

I'll get the DLC though, that should be enough to keep me going until the next gen, though I'm not sure how they'll be able to top this.

I pretty sure the guys at Quantic Dreams are in fits as i don't know how Beyond can top this story emotionally wise.

I loved Heavy Rain, but this took story telling in a video game to another level!

The problem with an ambiguous ending would be exactly that though; after spending 20+ hours with these characters, I don't then want to be told to make up my own conclusion to the story.

It made sense in Inception because whether it was reality or not only mattered to the viewer, Cobb didn't care because he was with his family and that's all that mattered. In TLoU, the outcome arguably matters more to Joel than it does to player - he's been through hell for her - so if they hadn't shown Ellie the assumption for the player would be that he left her there, which then makes you wonder why he bothered fighting to get her back to begin with.

I want lots of additional mini stories weighing in at around 4 - 5 hours. That would be great.

I really really really want DLC/Sequels to focus on the two main characters. I got a feeling if there any sequels it will be based on a totally different character(s)/story.

I wouldn't mind playing completely as Ellie in the future, when she is an adult, but that would be to similar to Tomb Raider I guess...

I think its 1 single player dlc and the rest multiplayer?

Id be happy with that, the online is pretty good to be honest! Finding it very slow paced and tactical most of the time and would love them to add to it as 2 modes may run a bit stale later on

The single player will need to be to the same quality of the main story! A prequel would be good as i love how it ended
