But if you also watch a video a few posts back, the build quality on the new One is so good it managed nearly an hour submerged in water without issue.

Until they change their production lines after a couple of months.

I had two different HTC Ones, both had a nasty pink camera issue.

Shame because I loved the phone.

All in all, I don't trust them now.
 
I know it's a bit silly... but if it didn't have the stupid black bar... I would seriously have thought about pre-ordering the Developer Edition.

Little wonder why HTC have problems. They just needed to take the M7, add an SD card, sort the bottom bezel of the phone out by either putting the three buttons on there or remove it and have them on screen and do the performance bump - slightly larger battery if possible, 8MP (or more if possible?) camera. Voila, what the M8 should be.

Phone designers frustrate me. They'll create the totes amazeballs phone for 80% of it then just nerf it with complete stupidity for no apparent reason.

Thanks for contacting OCUK Mobile support, this will depend on the application you're running, some applications allow the on screen buttons to disappear while in use and others keep them on screen - video players are a good example.

Think I'll go for it, last tax free item I can buy before leaving Germany, and fancy a phone to replace my Xperia Z.

Camera issues don't really bother me, most of my pictures are of things I need to note down like serial numbers and what not lol. It's the overall design that has sold it for me, think it looks fantastic, and the fact it has an SD slot is a great thing, as that's what put me off the original One.

Some games support something called "immersive full-screen" mode which was introduced with kitkat, this hides the navigation bar but there is only a small number of games supporting this.

So in most games you will have the navigation bar on screen and effectively you will have a smaller display.

With Nexus devices you can root and force immersive full-screen, not sure about other devices though.
 
Good news if you're on Three mobile. You can get the phone Pay as you go for £470 including £10 top up. They stick your current contract micro sim in the phone. Well that's what I've been told by the sales guy. Looks like im selling my M7 to get the M8 asap

As a serious answer the video/game needs to support immersive mode (up to the developer of the app) or rooting.

Hi, just seen that too, looks good, im already on three sim only £20. would that phone be three branded ? locked ?

just chatted to the online chat on three, told me its unlocked , but not sure about three branding

Picked up one this morning in carphone warehouse they have 100 quid instant cashback which they stuck on my card so was quite happy considering they only got told to sell them today the guy was shocked they was offering money since its so new!

I guess they haven't had chance to lock them down yet! Tempted, just not sure how bad the camera sucks!

My feelings about the m8 are pretty easy to sum up. They changed a lot of things I would have left the same. They left the same a lot of things I would have changed. As a One owner this gets a big thumbs down from me.

i made order £470, and chatted to another person and they said its sim free and unbranded, also my mate on three got a upgrade to a s4 and his was unlocked and unbranded, so hoping mine is too , its a great price lol
