*** The Official HTC One M8 Thread ***

Anyone flashed the Google Edition Rom on their M8?

Anyone flashed any custom rom on their M8 yet? Could anyone provide a link with simple instructions on how to root/flash a custom rom please? Seems a bit different to other devices.

Thanks

There are instructions on XDA, but once you flash GPE you cannot go back to Sense until they release the RUUs.

Generally the first step is to obtain S-OFF via HTCDev but i'm not sure what that means for warranty now.

Ive had my M8 for a few days now , gone from S3 to it,build quality feels superb and the screen is delicious but a couple of things are bothering me , i think i have the notification light bug where it doesnt work unless the phone is on charge, the headphone port at the botton of the phone seems odd but now it seems natural as you put your phone in you pocket upside down most of the time :)

but the real irritation for me is the crop sized area of any photo you wish to make your home screen desktop, i want to put a picture of my kids as desktop and the size of the area it allows is pathetic ! i guess installing a launcher such as GOlauncher would fix that ?

Well I did it, succumbed to my urges and upgraded to a M8. First impressions are it's an amazing phone, my last HTC was a HD2. So this a massive difference, the screen is fantastic coming from my N4 which wasn't a bad screen to begin with. But the overall build quality is top notch. Never felt a phone as quality as this, loving sense 6 as well, even having used stock android I like the experience of it, especially over earlier versions of sense.

Have to say the camera seems pretty good from the play about I've had with it, but will test it more. Some of the little extras like the tv remote and kid zone thing are quite cool. Overall have to say very happy with it and look forward to seeing what it can.

On a side note anyone know of any good screen protectors or liquid?

Anyone thinking of getting one of the dot view cases? I'm waiting for the black one to come into stock somewhere in the UK, looks like a good case from pics/vids!

Cool I'll give that tempered glass a try. And El1te I'm think ing of getting one. Expensive for a case but I like the novelty of it.

Excellent find. Just ordered one myself.

My M8 turned up on Friday and I must say I am impressed, seems a shame to put it in a case. The only thing that worries me is the size of the lens on the camera on the back.

I somehow managed to crack the camera glass on my HTC One so this does worry me still. Overall well happy with the phone so far.

Finally got it back!

Well done Mate did you have to bribe your Mum? lol

I got my replacement and it was scratched around the bottom and USB port so I asked for another replacement and there were marks machine marks along the bottom on the silver edge so that's going back too.

I haven't had much luck with the M8 so this time around I'm asking for a refund and will wait to see what the OneplusOne brings to the table.

If that isn't good then I'll wait for the red M8 to come out as I really like the phone.

Back to my trusty N5 in the meantime.

Bad luck.

I've had really bad luck with quality control on phones too. Or maybe I'm just fussy. I don't know.

Tell me about it!

In my case I think it's a combination of both. However this time around I couldn't get my head around the scuff marks and scratches on two of the units and a defective battery on the first unit was out of my control.

I guess carp happens!!!

Ordered one the tempered glass protectors so will see what it's like. Anyone put anything on the camera lense on the back? As can see that getting some scratches being in and out of a pocket all the time.

Had this since Friday. So far - love the design and the hardware, beautiful, class-leading. Don't like how tall it is though. It's huge. And not amazed by the battery life - strange because reviewers are saying it's good. I might try a factory reset if I can't get it to improve a bit. That sorted my Moto X out.

Isn't the phone £460 from Three and unlocked.

I paid £475 for mine because the guy made me buy a £15 top-up. Still not a bad deal at this time in the product's life. Someone on HUKD posting that it's actually locked to Three but I can't confirm with mine because I don't have another network nano-sim.
