i bought this phone (sim free) but i have a problem. i can't call out/receive and can't send/receive sms.

i've tryed a orange sim and a t-mobile sim.but with the t-mobile sim i can connect to the mobile internet..

any ideas

Try rebooting the phone with the SIM in it, just in case you've not done that. I had noticed that by the time that I put my o2 sim into my phone (which was already on) it didn't register until a reboot.

the phone was off before i put the sim in...

i guess it's a faulty phone...

i've ordered another one, just hope it's better than the first one.

Found out why the keyboard didnt sit well with me, its was way bigger to what I was used to! Downloaded this one "hackers" keyboard" which amost perfectly matches what I was using on the N900. Free too, so cant complain.

Is there an app that turns off your WIFI, GPS and Bluetooth after a while if it hasnt been used? I used to have one on the N900, Autodisconnect, it done no end of wonders for batterylife.

Do want...

Did got! :D

Well, I want to thank kona786 for recommending chitterchatter, great shop.
I asked if they have a car charger for the phone which they did and they said it's £10, I said ok. Then a few minutes later while I was browsing phones waiting for the paperwork to be completed, they called me over and said they'll give it to me for free. How cool is that  Not only that, they gave me £30 of gift vouchers to a bunch of different shops, lol

I bought the case for £5. It's got great grip with the textured sides. I also took out insurance. £9.99pm. Not sure I'll stick with it after a month, I'll see, but she said that although it's a bit more expensive than other companies, it's only £25 excess in the event of a claim and that I'd receive a brand new phone. She said T-Mobile and other carriers insurance schemes give you refurbished phones. I don't know how true that is though, so I'll have to research it. I'm not tied to a contract with this insurance though, so I can opt out any time.
To complete the shopping experience, the two girls serving were gorgeous and had massive t.. :D

Just need a screen protector now, I'll ask in the accessories thread.
Need to start charging this baby. Salesgirl told me not to exceed charging beyond full, about 10 hours, ie, not overnight, or it'll reduce battery life.

Here's some pics. :)

Random question guys.. (and gals)

Ive noticed my "android OS" eats up most of the power of the battery. I think this is because of my yahoo email app thats on the phone. As i get a lot of emails for work etc. On XDA forums someone said in a thread...

Might have something to do with the amount of emails you're getting? The device is awake when something is pushed or polling is done.

Just wondering if there was a way of setting up how often yahoo email syncs to save the battery? Going off 50-80 times a day is not helping my battery life much :D

Both of you should check out Juice Defender. It will switch wifi/mobile data off when screen is off but you can set it to reconnect at regular intervals to sync (I have mine set to every 15 minutes).

A lot of people get this problem (related to Gingerbread I think). Apparently in the next week or so 2.3.4 is coming out which "fixes this". But hmm...

Juice Defender isn't reliable... there are tons of people who have the problem that it won't properly reactivate the connections once it's switched them off. Apparently Green Power is much more reliable.
