**The Official Star Wars Battlefront II Thread (PC)**

I guess the great thing about this game is at least DICE/EA have now made this sort of thing a complete no go for the foreseeable future in the gaming industry, no way is anyone going to take the chance to have this sort of backlash over their game again, especially smaller studios that couldn't afford to take such a beating.
My thoughts exactly. Let's hope we're right!

The game is visually stunning > Pics <, (Don't tell TheGoon84 I'm actually having fun in MP though shhhhhhhhh!)

Haha.... Its an easy going basic game! Hard to deny that.... But with millions invested in to visuals its a no brainer... Game play however is very basic, the star fighter battles tho are something else!

Also guys, check out this from EA when they shut down revive.... They literally are Sith lords and DICE are their apprentices

Dear [REDACTED],

I write on behalf of Electronic Arts Inc. and its development studio DICE or, in other words, "those guys that make Battlefield."

We've noticed that Revive Network has several projects and websites devoted to being a Medic by "reviving" older Battlefield games, including Battlefield Heroes, Battlefield 2, and Battlefield 2142. It's great to see your enthusiasm for these titles. Not to brag, but we too get the nostalgia chills when booting up these classic entries in the Battlefield franchise.

We need a favor though: we must ask that you stop throwing down Ammo Crates. In other, more legal-styled terms, please stop distributing copies of our game clients and using our trademarks, logos, and artwork on your sites. Thing is, your websites may easily mislead visitors to believe that you are associated or affiliated with EA - we're the only ones that get to wear the "Official EA" dog tag. Since you're Battlefield community members, we know that you are smart and helpful, and will respect that we must protect our intellectual property rights in the franchise.

Please drop us a line to let us know you’re on board with this. Should you have any questions regarding all this, please do not hesitate to contact me via e-mail at [REDACTED]@ea.com.

Thanks,

[REDACTED]

Yeah because heaven forbid EA be affiliated with people just trying to do good for gaming communities by providing services which no longer exist

Init.... i'm so gutted i bought SWBF2 mind... Since release i've really read up on Ea practises and am thankful to the boycotters.

The whole games market is doomed.... Few guys revivied BF2 and they shut it down.

EA... The devil.

From a legal perspective I understand their decision, but that's due to cancerous copyright laws. However from a logic viewpoint there's protecting your IP and there's being a dick, EA are just dicks they're not losing anything by allowing their dead games to live on by loyal fans all they've done by politely shutting down the revived games is created another group of people to hate them.

However we must also be thankful to EA for pushing too far and causing this backlash which will not only affect them but a lot of other companies with their predatory money making schemes at the expense of quality in games, hopefully the landscape of gaming will finally change for the better

If EA re-released these games, with full MP support they'd sell millions of copies, but I guess they can't build in loot boxes and season passes so have no interest in them. Same thing if they re-released or remade an X-Wing space combat game. Make extra ships available but balanced. Want stronger weapons? Then your ship turns like a boat. Tougher shields or higher hit points? Low power weapons. Amazing manoeuvrability and speed? Low hit points and poor shields. Trade offs, not insane advantages. I'd buy that if it were good and not too arcadey.

They're of the opinion that every person that plays an old Battlefield or Battlefront is someone who won't buy their latest season pass is extra, loot box laden paid DLC game they're currently hawking. I can see where they're coming from as well, and while I don't agree with it as a consumer, if I were an IP lawyer I'd be writing that same email. At least they weren't total dicks about it and threatening all sorts of legal **** and tried to be nice.

But even without these "revivals" people are getting more wise and not willing to purchase the crap that's literally being **** out from the production line each year

What good is an IP anyway if they keep destroying it and turning more & more people away from it

Unfortunately they are - if they don't protect their IP that can be used against them in court in other cases. They'd be looked on a lot more favourably in general if they made more of an effort to release the core of older stuff under GPL and/or a license framework for the community to revive older games in terms of using assets.

Am I just **** poor at this game or does it seem to have a large number of hackers?

I absolutely hate Kashyyk playing as the Clone Troopers, I have an issue seeing the droids in the scenery and the objectives seem to be loaded so far in their favour its unreal.

What rank are you? I’ve only played that map a couple of times and it is difficult if you don’t know the objectives. What class do you usually play?

It's probably not hackers, a lot of players will have upgraded cards that really do give an advantage.

I exclusively use first person, 3rd person causes too many problems and unlike the first game the first person view is better.

Try using the fourth class, the Sniper type as your 3rd ability is X-Ray Binoc's which let you highlight everyone for miles.... legal wall hacks !!

The starter weapons are in my opinion very lackluster compared to the ones you get later on, you just have to persevere or get dirty and upgrade to Deluxe(P2W) pack ;)

Thanks I might switch to 1st person then. Played the first game in 3rd as like you say it was better so I just assumed this the same.

Isn't it the case that you can't use these and shoot at the same time?

Yes that's true but it reveals players over short and long distances.

If you play the Assault class you get a dart on your third ability that reveals enemies within a small vicinity for everyone to see for about 3 seconds (can be extended with cards :( ) It's like the orb's you lobbed in BF 2142!

I have to admit, I'm really enjoying the MP now. If you take away the scandal of the loot crates it's a really fun pick up and play fps game. Plus, it's tied with Ass Creed Origins for the best looking game of recent years.
