I might need to start DIY'ing due to my high consumption. I'm a total noob, what do I need to buy and from where to start cooking custard?

Pick up some VG and PG, as well as some nic base (from here is cheap http://www.cig-eliquid.co.uk/).

From there all you need is capella vanilla custard, dulce de leche, and some perfumers apprentice french vanilla (I didn't use that, but it seems to be recommended. All available from http://www.leisureliquids.com/capella.html).

After that, I suggest a syringe with a reasonably wide gauge needle to measure your flavourings, a 10ml measuring cylinder to make mixing up the base easier, and something to store your liquid in (any left over eliquid bottles will be fine if you rinse them out.

Then you just mix it up to the recipe.

Ok you will be all glad to know that i managed to survive last night with my dead battery on my provari lol. Got home and must have vaped a good 10mins of GVC just to get my pangs under control. Charged up my battery so should last me all day now, ive had to turn down the voltage just to give me some extra juice as im here again at work till 9pm.

One thing i have noticed with the protanks that i got from fasttech a mth or so ago is that these new ones ie they changed the design a bit from the original one i have, is that it doesnt pull as hard as the first one i have which doesnt have that nut inside the tank. Not sure if its the head or what, im using a 2.5 ohm head at the moment. But im finding that i need to pull pretty hard compared to the first protank i got, it definitely has a tighter draw on it and the original one i have seems to be much more airy when pulling. The other thing i have noticed with the newer protanks is that it doesnt make as much noise when pulling compared to the first one i have.

Is there anything i can do to get a more airy draw out of them or is this just the way they are??. Im also finding the newer protanks tend to heat up my battery as well.

j.col dont worry mate, i havent forgotten about the spare protanks that you want. Just waiting for fasttech to deliver, should be here next week im hoping.

Carry a spare battery man! I never leave home without at least one spare battery, one spare atty, and a bottle of liquid.

So today I went and bought myself my first vapourizer. It's probably rubbish to what you guys have though. It's an Eros CE4 and I've got apple and blueberry juices at 1.2 and 1.8. I've vaped my way through about 2ml in 6 hours, very enjoyable.

I like fruit juices, I'd very much like to try Scopes, where do you guys buy from?

I have this Eros for out and about but I'd like something more powerful for at home. Howevet I don't really want to be doing all this wire and wick stufg all the time like you guys haha :p. With that in mind would some of you guys like to give me some ideas for a more powerful vaper? Say up to £60-70, around that. Cheers guys :).

You wouldn't need to spend that much even. For something easy to use, but able to kick out the jams, I would suggest some form of variable voltage/wattage mod (allows you to crank up the power to get more vapour and throat hit). Something like the Vamo or Innokin SVD, some 18650 batteries, and a decent charger (I recommend the nitecore i2 or i4, and then plonk a protank atomiser on top and jobs a good'un. All under budget.

Note: fasttech takes ages (we're talking 2-3 weeks) to deliver, but they are way cheaper than anywhere else.

Cheers mate. :)

Thanks for the info mate. What ohm/voltages do you suggest? In all honesty I just clicked the drop down links to check the options and it just got more confusing. :p

There are various kits you can get with either mod (various combos of atomisers/batteries/chargers/etc).

I would suggest the vamo 5-in-1 with nitecore Euro plug (the plug is just a figure of 8 lead you can replace with one lying around the house). Comes with batts and a charger so you're all set.

or if you prefer the SVD (I have both, and the SVD is slightly better built, but the Vamo has an easier menu system so take your pick) then get the battery compartment option (just the device itself) and pick up some decent unprotected panasonic 18650 batteries (you can also use 18350 batteries in mini-mode to make the mod smaller when you're on the go, at the cost of battery life), and a charger for them.

Both devices do between 3V-6V or 3W-15W (different methods of doing the same thing), and the resistance of the coil in the protank isn't a big deal since you can always raise or lower the volts to compensate (remember, V=I*R, and heat output is related to current). As long as the coil resistance is above 1.2Ohms, which all of them will be, then you're fine. If you want to use it on your basic battery as well, I'd recommend a lower resistance head though. most basic ego batteries only do 3.7V at best, and on a 2+Ohm coil that isn't enough to give a decent kick.

I know it can be a bit mind-boggling at first (I was the same), but the simple way to think of it is this: SVD or Vamo, both are just ways of putting the power into your atomiser (any atomiser will fit these). All you need is batteries to put in them (either 18650 or 18350 unprotected batteries, ie with no nipple on top) and something to charge those with. After that you just plonk your atty on top and fill her up. Coil resistances aren't important on VV/VW devices, so don't worry about it. I suggested the protank because it's easy to use, cheap, produces decent flavour/vapour, and you can recoil it later on if you want to give it a go.

I have some serious mixing to do. I've rinsed out 8 of my little juice bottles and got some labels prepared, so when they dry out (tomorrow hopefully) I'm going to go crazy and mix up 100ml of base and then go all mad scientist with some of my new flavours (capella apple pie, capella caramel, and maybe fiddle about with a hint of graham cracker in my vanilla custard in a 20ml batch). It's going to be fun :D

I carried a Vamo, 4 batteries, 2 Novas with liquid in them, and 50 ml of juice, (and wick and wire) all on board with me. Liquids in the plastic bags as usual, Vamo went right on top of the tray to make it clear I wasn't hiding it. Never even got asked.

The Daily Fail has screwed us once again with an articled titled "electronic cigarettes as bad as smoking" when neither the study they cite (which they never read fully) makes no such claims, and that's before you even get to the fact the study isn't even in a peer reviewed journal. Gah!

Bad luck mate. Maybe time to get some grips out. If you don't have access to rubber grips, try tapping it lightly on a hard surface to loosen the threads. Failing that, brute force.

I mixed up 3 new flavours last night: apple pie with a hint of vanilla custard and dulce de leche, apple pie with a graham cracker crust, and caramel. Now the waiting game begins!

First up to bat after only one day steeping: 11% Capella apple pie, 3% Capella vanilla custard, 1% dulce de leche

First impressions: this one will age well. The apple is very tart and prevalent, and I reckon a touch more VC would have softened it up a bit better. So far, liking it a lot.

Can you tell me someone if i need a screw on drip tip for the DID? because I dont have one O_O

Nah, just rob one from another atty.

I have to say one thing. VC is not, imo, better in silica wicks.I know everyone says it is, but I just had a delicious vape of my stuff from an RSST, and the flavour is immense compared to the muted nothingness I get from my Nova. That said, Novas are not renowned for their excellent flavour. My knockoff novas don't seem to work on either my vamo or SVD, so I may replace them with protanks for my "non all-day" liquids, and keep my RSST for whatever I'm hooked on. Maybe I need another RSST too. Mine has started to leak just a tiny bit from the bottom of the tank (most likely from the centre post).

Yeah this sounds just like a head that needs a clean/replacing. Over time the coil gunks up, and you might get a couple rinse and dry burns before the wick goes. Also, don't underestimate the fact that your taste buds will get used to the flavour and you won't taste it as strongly, which sucks.

I'll give it a go, how often do you dry burn. There's lots of conflicting information on this when I was looking at it previously. some said 2/3 second pulses with 1 second gaps until the coil heats red. Other's say do it 3/4 times and then leave it overnight to dry....

Just until the coil goes red. You'll see the crap turn white, at which point you can just brush/rinse it off revealing the clean coil below

Hi guys, iv been reading abit of this thread and my god its hilarious what you all talk about! its quite confusing and sometimes makes me hungry! its like your all talking about food!

anyway.. im sure this has been asked many times before but me and mrs were going to get a couple of e-cigs because we have both been smoking for far too long now, but im not really that sure what is the best one to get! I was looking at the VISION V3 EGO SILVER KIT but was wondering what the difference is between that one and the one i have tried before which was the cartridge style ones before?

One thing that looks interesting is all the different flavours you can get for the liquid, but is that just for liquid though, or can you get that for cartridge aswell?

cheers :)

The kit deuse suggested is a good basic kit on the cheap, and then you can choose any liquid you like to put in the clearomiser. You would need to replace them after a couple weeks, but they only cost a couple quid. You can put any atomiser you like on those batteries, so it's quite a flexible kit.

I suggest starting on 18mg strength or lower liquid, depending on how much you smoke. You can always chain vape a low strength, but I find a liquid that's too strong is really off-putting for me (some people don't mind though).

Hmm...I think I have finally decided what vape thingy to get...going to get a Vamo V4 due to the Ohm meter built in...probably grab an AGA T2 or Smok RSST with it...

Most variable voltage devices will measure the resistance of the coil, but the Vamo is a good device (I still use my V2, didn't even know there was already a V4!). I wouldn't get an RSST as my first atty, unless you're prepared to have at least three days of rage while getting to grips with steel wicks. Get something with a silica wick. You'll still be able to rewick it, but it will be infinitely more forgiving than a mesh wick. Even something like a protank, which is really just a fill up and go device, would be a great companion to a vamo, while giving you the option to rewick it and save cash that way.

Also, I have been vaping my Capella apple pie with graham cracker mixed in. It's really tasty. Like an apple and cinnamon strudel, but in a cloud of vapour.

I've just finished my Capella Apple Pie @ 20% 70/30 and it was rather good! Might try it with Graham's Cracker and/or Pie Crust next. What percentages did you use of each?

12% apple pie and 4% graham cracker. The graham is a pretty strong flavour, so it balances out well. I think it might need an extra % of each though, as it seems a bit weak (might be because I'm vaping it in a nova though).
