The Witcher 2 - Thread

I've just started the 1st game everything was going great until I got up to the point where you go through a really long cut scene and then throws you into a boss fight where I seem to die pretty easy and then have to go through the cut scene again. This is getting really annoying and was wondering if its like that for the rest of the game and like this in the second?

Luckily there aren't *too* many fights like that. I had to restart the original game and take the stun power to defeat that guy. I am hoping the 2nd is quite as bad.

The main problem is with the difficulty settings (in the first game) - easy is basically like having a cheat enabled, normal can be frustratingly tough sometimes, and hard is "two hits" and you die type of thing.

I'm finding in Witcher 2 that the balancing is really off with various enemies/difficulty levels.
I started on Normal, but found it too easy. Then I put it up to hard which seemed about right, until I started having to fight 6-7+ enemies at the same time which resulted in run away run away run away spell/swing/trap run away run away run away repeat - which doesn't really give the impression you're a master swordman and monster slayer.
So I dropped the game back down to normal and these fights became ridiculously easy, but then I come againt the Endrega queen and have a right surprise when she 2 shots you no problem on the same difficulty level that you can wade into a bunch of nekkars without worry and 3 hit them. If you put the difficulty up to hard those nekkars take 7-8 hits each and you have to do the hit and run malarky.

Yeah im finding that i have to drop it down to easy for some fights. But then it becomes to easy lol No middle ground.

I've decided it has the same learning curve as Demon's Souls, or it would if it didn't have difficulty settings, you just get used to the combat after a while to the point where everything becomes a lot easier, it doesn't quite have the balance of Demon's Souls and can on occasion be rather unfair however once you get into the combat and figure out timings and mechanics everything starts to flow together.

It's such an easy game for me though, I've gotten two play throughs done at hard and a combined death toll of 6 for them.

I even managed to get to the boss fight in Chapter one on Insane before I died.

Stock up on potions lads, learn the to Reposte, and get improved Quen and after that the game is a cake walk on any difficulty.

Loving this game. Wish I'd bothered to finish the first. Graphics are brilliant, finally a modern game that pushes hardware to the limit. All these console ports don't seem to stress PC's.

Have to say the random CTD's are annoying though.

I'd go with this. When you do things 'right', it can be quite easy. But at the same time, the game can be quite unforgiving (or just plain unfair) if you don't.

When I first went into Flotsam forest, I got completely obliterated by the endregas, and even more so by groups of nekkers (groups of endregas were also a pain, but their attacks are a lot slower than nekkers') because I didn't really know how to deal with them effectively. Once I figured out how to fight them properly, it suddenly became a lot easier.

Most of chapter 1 was pretty easy once I grasped the endregas and nekkers. The difficulty 'spiked' when I had to deal with the kayran, but that was more down to the fact I was lousy at dodging its swings to begin with. After that boss fight, there was another lull in difficulty, and it wasn't until I did the Melitele's Heart quest near the end of the chapter that the combat became hard again (those wraiths are devastating in numbers). Even Letho was pretty easy.

Right just downloaded this game, but I've managed to loose my saves from the original game due to a re-install of my system.

Is there anyway to recreate my choices from the first game to import them into the second? and do they really change the game that much?

No advice? I don't want to start the game until I have my previous decisions (if they matter and it is possible to do so)

So it doesn't matter that I ****ed of triss after romancing her, saved alvin and the witch, got that knight to the leader of the group etc..?
