Unai says goodbye, Mikel says hello

Don't care! It'll be worth it just to unite the crowd. For once...
So yeh just like Utd when they appointed Ole?? Did ok when he took over then pretty much tanked this season. Now fans aren’t so keen on him.
As much as I love Vieira, absolute legend...I don’t think he’s the one we should be going for. We need to aim higher with a higher calibre manager.

Why be so negative? Lampard went from a failed attempt to get Derby promoted, to Chelsea, a club that could have attracted anyone. And is doing ok.

Why couldn't Vieira do similar?

Lampard got Derby playing decent football but was a massive gamble that appears to have worked out. We need someone to come in and steady the ship. I don't think Vieira is the man to do that.

See I don't believe it was that much of a gamble. Certain people belong at certain clubs.

I would much rather have Vieira than Arteta, and I don't think we will get a top top class manager unless they promise him loads of money. Pay Leicester 14 mill for Rodgers and then have to pay him as well. Doesn't sound like us.

Every manager has to be assessed on their individual personality and skill set.

Solskjaer is a wet lettuce, he doesn't inspire, he isn't interesting. Lampard on the other hand was articulate as a player and that comes across in his managerial style too: he has gravitas, is forthright and he talks a lot of sense. He is the type of manager that I expect many players would want to play under because he is relatable.

I wouldn't target either, but I would prefer Vieira over Arteta. At least Vieira has had time to demonstrate his managerial chops and has a legacy at Arsenal: Arteta hasn't yet taken the step and his career at Arsenal was solid but unspectacular. He may be an ideas man, but we aren't in the position where we need to gamble on an unproven commodity.

Wish Spurs could get this level of failure :D

By United standards they failed. Apart from Chelsea and Man city, the rest of us would take it.

For what its worth, I reckon with Mourinho in charge it's just a matter of time before you win something. He is a serial winner.

Liverpool and City have caught up with them, in the same way that Arsenal and Man U dominated the 90's and 00's and other teams couldn't get a look in. Fergie didn't exactly leave with an amazing squad to take over, and the crushing weight of expectation has probably caused more problems.

Yet Man United won the Premiership and had the top goalscorer in Fergies last season. What he was a master at was assessing his squad and getting in what he needed.

The expectations had to change almost as soon as he left, because he was such a force. No one could match his record.

Or get fired like at every other club he's managed. Just a matter of time with the 'sacked one'. ;)

Why not go for Rafa?? I’m sure he would jump at the chance of coming back to the PL from China.
I always thought he did a decent job at Newcastle with what he was working with.

I’d rather him than say Vieira, mainly due to the fact that Rafa has PL experience and has managed at the highest level with Liverpool. Vieira hasn’t really proven himself as it is in all honesty.

Looks like Rodgers is off the menu, just signed a contract extension till 2025. So even if we tried to nab him, it’s going to cost a shed load of money to get him.

Rafa isn't that great, he's had so many clubs now and doesn't exactly set the world on fire.

Yep looks like Rodgers isn't gonna happen. And Allegri has said he won't be returning to work until the summer. We cannot wait that long.

Simeone could be available soon. He may be the only one to save us now. Experienced and tough enough to scare the players.

Not in a million years. I doubt he would want to come and he is completely at odds with Arsenals style of football. He also wouldn't have a top class team to work with.
