Weekend Football Thread **Spoilers**

I don't see how you can compare Drogba and Evra.

Drogba is an awful constant diver, yet immensely talented and brilliant footballer. I was very impressed with him today, he looked very fit and sharp. I'd even go as far as to say almost back to been near his best.

Evra can't be compared with him.

Ever since the Barca game he's stayed on his feet a lot more.

Not that I'm defending him, just see if you notice it :)

There was a playing running towards Carrick before he'd even received possession of the ball so there was no advantage, had he not played it first time then by the time he'd of controlled the pass the player would have had been on him tackling him so no advantage there either

Come on, Rooney had acres of space first, and Carrick still had time and space to use the ball, he just tried a clever? flick with the outside of his foot, which never came off.

If man u had gone on and scored would you be saying, "but the ref should have blown for a foul, Evra's face has been caved in by that German tank".

Thought not.

He was still down after the goal had been given, in fact from the TV pictures it's a full two minutes after the incident before Evra is shown on his feet again, surely enough time to have got over being winded or any impact injury to his face do you not think?

Or do you have to be down for 5 minutes like Drogba is?

He wasn't winded, no-one holds their face when winded.
Do you honestly think a smack in the face from an elbow which is seemingly bad enough to keep you on the floor for more than 3 minutes can clear up without any marks, blood or concussion instantly?

Unbelievable how much people let their own bias towards a team cloud their vision. I'm a chelsea supporter and I thought it was a foul on evra but it's patently obvious ballacks elbow hit his chest not the face. The blame lies with the referee and not the chelsea players for not kicking the ball out as you are told to play to the whistle.

Anyway it balanced itself out in the end as rooney looked offside for the equaliser and as people stated earlier it's the charity shield not the FA cup. The real season starts next week.

What an utterly ridiculous argument

???
Seeing as it wasn't an elbow (as that hit the chest) but a shoulder to the face, why not?
Then him getting angry at seeing Chelsea scoring in the area hes supposed to be covering, even if he stood backup after 10 seconds he wouldn't of made it in time.

Drogba's biggest problem is his diving and attitude to the game.

His diving, even if he stopped 100% today doing it, will still massively affect his game, if he goes down, he's diving even if it's a real penalty. I think 80% of the time he is diving, or was last season, which was summed up very well in the Barca game, and his attitude at the end.

I honestly, wouldn't want him at my club, and I'd rather take a forward who doesn't do this, i,e that girl from Liverpool.

Evra might've been clocked in the face by Ball-lick's shoulder anyway regardless of where his elbow hit, so instantly tarring and feathering him as a disciple of Roll-on-the-floor-aldo seems more than a bit unfair given the video evidence is far from conclusive.

I'd rather have Drogba than Cilla Black if I'm honest...

There's clearly no better LB in world football at this moment in time. Two seasons ago Clichy could have had a say in it but Evra's moved past that now

The word clearly sounds as if you think he's leagues ahead of all other left backs in 'world football'

Ashley Cole? Much better at defending than Evra imo. Evra might have the upper hand going forward but at the end of the day they are defenders.

I love how every time a player is mentioned as being good, you always have someone at Chelsea who is better. :p

Not having a go, just funny, that's all. :D

I didn't compare Evra to Drogba. I used Drogba as an example as to why the rule changed.

Whether Evra dived or was feigning injury has no relevance whatsoever. He wasn't seriously injured so there was no need to stop the game.

Your just being ridiculous now !!! If anything it's the other way around. It's only been in the last 12-18 months that this supposed world class left back in Cole has actually found out how to defend in any way shape or form. Positionally he was and is awful. His pace makes up for the mess he creates. Ashley Cole is so good that Chelsea have bought another Left Back

As for your previous childish post of yadda yadda yadda don't think so!!! I have watched the video and I agree that Evra was not elbowed in the face. What facts remain is that German Twit did elbow him in the chest and he obstructed him. In the cold light of day, the ref actually got the decision spot on. Evra was fouled but Utd had the advantage and didn't capitalise on it. Regardless of that, Ballack should have been booked at the very least

Well I believe Cole, Terry, Carvalho, Boswinga to be the best back 4 in the world.

Chelsea do have quite a few world class players though imo.

Cole, Carvalho, Lampard (don't even think about it Tummy), Essisen to name a few.

Means nothing if you're not winning things though. I.e United play Scholes, Giggs, Anderson, Nani, Park, Fletcher and O'Shea who are all imo nothing but 'good' professional football players. Regardless, they are still part of a very successful team which is all that matters.

It was a foul.

Foul's should stop the game.

The ref played advantage, which is interesting, because a good majority of the time any injury that looks like a head injury is stopped very quickly.
