What film did you watch last night?

The Great Gatsby is a great American novel so I'm guessing you're missing something, though I've not read it myself, so I'm not really in a position to comment!

Well it was a novel that 'captured the spirit of the age in which it was written', however as far as I'm concerned it didn't do anything within this setting that was particularly interesting. Perhaps that's the point though, the 1920s was all style, no substance?

The Number 23
7/10
Good psycological thriller ala Shutter Island etc.
I like Jim Carey in serious roles (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind / I Love You Phillip Morris) so naturally like this. Not sure what I'd think if I didn't like him...

This Is The End - Maybe I was just in the mood but I liked this, a whole lot of people have slated this and yes, it is not up to much and gets pretty poor at the end but some of the initial scenes had me laughing a lot, Michael Cera stole the show. 3/5

How when he died in the first 15minutes or so?

For me, Danny Mcbride was the best out the crew, especially the fapping arguement with james franco.

The East

This started out really well and had quite a bit of promise I thought, however things plummeted downhill from there. Third act was awful. On a positive note I think the cast did a half-decent job with some not so decent writing.

2/5
**

I liked the movie - realized it was a lowish budget movie -

Id prob give it a 6.5/10

Europa Report - 5

Meh, nothing really else to say meh. And I am not a fan of "camcorder/surveillance" directing akin to "cloverfield" or "paranormal experience".

Sharknado - super 5

Movie itself is horrendous but it is so bad that it makes it sorta passable. Avoid unless inebriated.

So I watched Old Boy tonight, the remake, obviously all the hate this film is getting and the fact I loved the original I went into the film with low expectations but came out with genuinely surprised. It's a good remake, not worthy of the hate it gets, Brolin plays the character well and the gore is good! Some things didn't work well but others did. I enjoyed it. 7/10

Homefront. It was ok, I don't like seeing Jason smile. 6/10

Man of Steel - Got it on BD and watched it Friday night, still happy with this film and only have one complaint which is the stupid "krypton's atmosphere makes him weak" crap!

9.5/10 - you have to take into account I am a massive Superman fan, my score from a none fan point of view would be 7.5/10.
