What film did you watch last night?

Original or remake? I quite liked the original, but it's not in English.

The remake, started out 1/2 ok then i looked at the amount of time left and thought what direction are they going to take this now? What they did was just slow the entire thing down even slower than it already was.

For example they must have spent a good 8 mins going round and round in circles drying a mobile phone and rechecking the signal.

then every scene where someone gets hurt is always off camera.

then the two weird kids randomly talk directly to the camera.

then to top it off they pick up a remote and rewind the film when something doesn't go their way.

Its as if its not a film its more of a information video on violence.

I could have excused most of it if they just cut the length of the film down and didn't slow everything down just to fill time.

Secret life of Walter Mitty 8/10 maybe more, exceptional sound track, some stunning landscapes but it's beautifully shot throughout with stuff in NYC looking fantastic. Very well acted, good story, it bordered the line of too silly in a couple of scenes but didn't go over it. I really thoroughly enjoyed it, sound track and some of the scenery maybe even make it a 9/10.

After being so thoroughly disappointed with Hustle and Wolf of Wall Street and to a lesser degree Gravity(even shallower plot/character wise but still a significant piece of cinema alone), I really didn't know what to expect and ended up seeing a really fantastic film.

Nymphomaniac Vol.1

I had recently watched Breaking the Waves (8/10), and enjoyed that a lot, but being a big ignoramus I knew nothing about Lars Von Trier, so I decided to watch some others. Nymphomaniac Vol.1 was interesting and highly erotic, although it is claimed that porn doubles were used, at least for the main young girl played by Stacy Martin. I like it enough watch the second volume.
7/10
I am still to watch the second. Apparently the ending is anger inducing, so I'm preparing myself :p

Had a bit of a Keanu Reeves fest today.

47 Ronin - Not that bad, wouldnt watch again but not a complete waste of time either. Good action scenes, predictable cliche story. 5/10.

The Man of Tai Chi - Thought this was a pretty good martial arts flick, fight scenes were decent (all aside from the one involving Keanu at least) - figured that as this was a chinese movie we were going to see people flying around on wires for 90 minutes but thankfully that was kept to a minimum. Definately worth a watch. 6.5/10

Was World War Z a big hit? Somehow I don't think so. Just been looking at Brad Pitt on IMDb and then thinking how I haven't seen him in a big movie since... Troy... Mr & Mrs Smith... Ocean's Thirteen... The Curious Case of Benjamin Button... Inglourious ********...

Though I remember people talking and raving more about Troy than any of the other recent ones. Maybe some of Mr & Mrs Smith as well but Troy had the bigger coverage.

Also I would never have guessed Brad Pitt was 50. He looks mid 40's in World War Z... He certainly doesn't look anything near 50.

Hot Rod: 7/10

Never even heard of this film before but watched it with a group of friends and laughed a lot during it. Stupid goofy and funny, somewhere between Napoleon Dynamite, Anchorman and Step Brothers, but much sweeter than any of them. Well worth a watch if you like any of those films.
