What film did you watch last night?

Nebraska. 5/10.

Some strong performances from Will Forte and a cameo from Stacey Keach. Unfortunately, like The Decscendants, just felt a bit of chore to get through. Loved, loved Sideways, so will always watch Alexander Payne's stuff.

Enough Said. 7/10. Watched due to being one of James Gandolfini's last films. I suppose it could be described as a bit "chick-flicky" but well worth a watch. Would watch the test card if it had Julia-Louis Dreyfus.

Saving Private Ryan 9/10

First time watching it on Blu-Ray.

I thought the opening scene of the D-Day landings was great! nearly had me ducking as bullets whizzed over my head!! Brilliant story! nearly 3 hours, but kept me glued all the way through! Great film. One of my all time favourites in Hi-Def!!

Well.... (Takes deep breath!)

Last night I STARTED to watch Wolf Creek 2... I had watched the original a few years ago and thought it was pretty shocking especially as it was based on a true story. But this was another level. From the get go its a truly nasty, brutal and horrifically real film with a very desperate desolate setting. Some truly horrible and utterly graphic death scenes. I watched it for a while and turned it off. I am not squeamish by any stretch of the imagination but that just was just too extreme for me. I would go as far to say its almost pretty realistic murder porn made even shocking by the fact that it is inspired by true events.

Utterly shocking! DO NOT WATCH WITH YOUR GIRLFRIEND!!! Unless she is a freak! ;)

Man up!

It's not THAT graphic, there are more graphic movies like the Saw series or perhaps even Hostel. As for horrific, it is pretty in your face for gore and killing but again nothing new. I think it's more refreshing to see the "action" () rather than the camera pan away like you usually get.

Maybe I've just watched these kind of films too much and they don't have much of an affect on me I don't know :p

The first killing with the head... They didn't hang about did they!

LOL I have seen that stuff before. I have watched All the hostels, all the saw movies etc and none of them had the effect of wanting me to turn it off but that did. Maybe its because the stuff that is in those films is pretty horrible but laughable in its absurdity but the realism of Wolf Creek 2 coupled with the fact that it is based on true events is probably worse than the actual gore.

The girl watching as her boyfriend had his throat cut and beheaded in front of her was very nasty and extenuated by her hysterical screams.

Also him cutting up the body with complete disregard for another human being just did it for me and had to switch it off

I think I would rather not get used to that...

Vampire Academy...on paper I should hate everything about this movie but it was bizarrely entertaining, probably due to the lead girl having a sharp wit and being insanely hot.

Out of the Furnace

When Rodney Baze mysteriously disappears and law enforcement doesn't follow through fast enough, his older brother, Russell, takes matters into his own hands to find justice.

Fairly standard family member ends up dead, so brother takes revenge. Despite having a fairly solid cast (Bale, Harrelson, Forrest Whitaker etc) - it was distinctly average film. Nothing new - nothing amazing but a decent watch.

Good acting, (Bale and Harrelson are excellent) - strange love interest (Zoe Saldana) that is not developed at all - 6.5/10

Harry Potter & The Goblet Of Fire - Still not seen all the films so we're slowly getting through them all. Doesn't help with a girflriend that has the attention span of a 5 year old.

Enjoyed the 2nd half more than the 1st half with all the Quidditch world cup etc which just felt so annoying. Harrys acting is still pants and Harminey's facial expressions just grate !

Still epic though and it's quite dark and scary (for a kids film, not myself) so 7/10 from me.

Insidious 2 - Better than the first but still not that scary and the acting wooden as usual. Makes the first film make more sense but other than that another run of the mill pants horror. 5/10

Hitchcock - Suprisingly better than a documentary we watched a few months ago about Alfred Hitchcock. Centred more on the relationship with his wife and the making of Psycho. Enjoyed it. 7/10

Tucker & Dale vs Evil.

A parody of 'in the woods slasher horror' type films, and beautifully done. Really brought together by the two stars.

I'd recommend it to anyone wanting a light film to watch. (It does have some gore though!)

TIL: Headrat's computer doesn't react to him in the same way :p

I thought the film was quite good. Opens up various questions especially in our own future as this is the way things are heading.

Watched with Missus:

Wolf Creek 2 - 2/10, both thought the film in a whole was worse than first and just one of the worst bad guys ever, her fav's are original Freddy & Wishmaster (only in first 2).

Rewatched over last few nights:

The Raid - 9/10 (she's seen 2nd one with her mum, says its even better, I was working :( )
Undisputed 2 - 8/10
Undisputed 3 - 9/10
Warrior King - 8/10 (re-watched after starting and switching off second one, felt Jaa deserved a chance to redeem himself..)
Kill 'em all - 6/10 Ammara Siripong and Tim Man make this film, but Johnny Messner ruins it :(
