What film did you watch last night?

Saw Godzilla last night, and thought it was really good.
Definitely a 7/10 maybe even an 8.

Godzilla itself was bad ass.

My main gripe with the film was the human element, I had no care for the characters. Also it was annoying to see that it'd be them to look around and then Godzilla would appear, it'd be far more effective if it was a group shot looking at Godzilla.

Robocop (2014)

A long stride apart from the late 80s cult original and distinctly lacking many of the reasons as to why we still watch it's former version today. We will not be watching this portrayal in 25 years time.

Gary Oldman's character brings some level of authenticity to the moral questioning the film asks it's audience, ironically this is counterbalanced by the amusing Samuel L Jackson character, who seems to be playing a cliche of Samuel L Jackson. I had a chuckle nonetheless.

Visually, it was a balance of being quite polished, and massively cheating with FPS style combat scenes.

Overall: another poor remake to add to the bonfire previously stoked by Total Recall.

Butcher Boys

I have literally no idea what I have just witnessed. Went from just "ok" to WTF, especially when you've got a doctor running around in a dress and an electric cattle prod.

Catching up on all the films I should have seen but haven't yet so,

Rush: 9/10 - Exceptional film that portrayed the sheer ambition, determination and stubbornness of the two men. I can't fault one thing in the film at all and bar some little magic thing that very few films have ever achieved it was perfection.

Gattaca - Somehow just never got round to watching this, but I've been on the look out for decent sci-fi films. It didn't disappoint, very good film. A solid 8 out of 10!

Delivery Man. Great movie. 8 out of 10. I think they actually had a lawsuit of a similar nature going on for real. sperm donor has 500 odd kids. They all get together and take it to court that their biological father's identity is given, even though the clinic did have a confidentiality agreement in place.. Anyway, good movie, well worth watching.

Yesterday I watched:
Xmen
Xmen United
Xmen The Last Stand

Today I've watched:
Xmen Origins Wolverine
Xmen First Class

and I've just sat down to watch The Wolverine.

They're pretty good these x man films!

Just finished watching 13 13 13.

Boy am i picking out the crap the crap at the moment.
Was like the crazies but very low budget and with the acting talent of a fish.

1/10

Another from last night

The occupants

Again another low budget feel movie with the acting talent to match.

2/10 just because the lead actress was semi fit.

*Yawns*... I think a ten year old was responsible for the script. Some nice performances, direction and ideas, but nothing much more to it. The number of times I chuckled makes me thing it was more of a comedy than foreboding sci-fi thriller whatchamacallit. It wasn't not entertaining but it certainly wasn't very good.

1.5/5

Finally got around to watching American Hustle was overall a fairly enjoyable film, it did feel a bit dragged out and almost cocky in parts but was enjoyable.

Was disappointed by the ending, felt way too 'clean' that everything sort of worked out for the main characters. I did feel sorry for Jeremy Renner's character though, he seemed to be the only one who had good intentions throughout.

Watched Zwartboek (Black Book) - Dutch film by Paul Verhoeven which won some awards a few years ago. - 7/10, thought Carice Van Houten was good in the lead role and it was an interesting story.

X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014) - 9/10

Saw this at the weekend in 2D. What an excellent film. Exactly what a super hero film should be. Good action but not over doing it all wrapped up with a great story line. Liked the fact there was no messing around with new pointless characters, we know by now what they can all do and it just got on with it! Great cast but would have loved to have seen more of the oldies in it. I really enjoyed the first one (First Class) and this lived up to it nicely. They are by considerable distance the best Marvel/action films of recent years (along with The Dark Knight and Batman Begins) imo. Makes a great change from watching the usual super hero rubbish.

White House Down - 7/10

Pretty hilarious really, it had everything. Hand to hand combat, guns, missiles, apaches, explosions, a plane blowing up, nuclear submarines. So over the top but pretty watchable, must have had a decent budget.
