What film did you watch last night?

Well it had all the elements I wanted from a spidey movie, action, angst, and comedy.

Yes, Garfield's face is more annoying that Toby's, but I felt his version of Parker was much closer to the comic book version.

Nope, I'm actually very much behind on my non-Sony/Fox Marvel films.

Have yet to see:

Both CAs
Both Thors
IM 3
And therefore Avengers Assemble too.

I didn't bother with the first CA as I find him the most boring Marvel character, I don't read any of his comics, and only really enjoyed him during the Civil War arc.

As it stands, I enjoyed the reboots of both Spiderman and the X-men far more than previous batch.

CA 1 wasn't too bad, and I feel the same he's a very boring character in the comics. However, CA2 was absolutely brilliant. The best comic book movie by far

Maleficent, I thought it was spectacular. Critics don't seem to agree but then again, they liked the new Godzilla so...

Disney on top form/10

Limitless - 7/10

Quite enjoyed that. Sure it was silly, but it was also fun.

"In the old days I would fillet you. Fillet. It's such a nice word."

Watched 1- Life on the Limit really enjoyed it, I'd seen a few similar documentaries about similar subject matter but it was still enjoyable, they had a fair few people to be interviewed also.

If I had a gripe it would be that they tended to focus on a few drivers and only very briefly mention others, it'd have been nice for them to spend time on a lot more drivers but I guess they would have struggled to get it to film length then, but a series or mini series would've been great :p :)

X-Men: DFP

I feel like Marvel studios need to get this license back as there are so many X-Men they can add or change but they keep relying on the same ones. Case in point is Quicksilver, has the best scene in the whole movie and could have been a great addition its just a shame he inst in it much due to the conflict with him being in the next Avengers. Overall it was good but could have been so much better.

6/10

X-Men: Days of Future Past 6 out of 10

It was by no means a bad film yet there was just something very safe about the film it just felt like it was going nowhere new, luckily the actors were good to watch and made the film worth while, still prefer first class.

Superbad - Quite funny in places, though the formula of kids, parties, alcohol etc wasn't anything new. Didn't laugh at this as much as Super Troopers.

Rambo: First Blood - what can i say, classic Rambo/Sly action. Probably my fave of the Rambo franchise.

Mine too, they dont make them like the 80s hits

The Truman Show
Fantastic story and a very clever film. Jim Carrey deserved far more recognition than he got.

RoboCop
Blood, bad language, big robots and tons of violence. What more could you ask for in an action film? Just awesome.

I wish the new robocop was rated 18, its nowhere near good as the original.
but i did like the black suite.

Spiderman 2 (2004) was pretty awesome.
Who can forget the mono-rail scene.
I remember when it was first released, the reviewers stated that this may be the best super hero movie ever made.

I was ok but 3 made a mess of it, it was like X-Men 3 good, ok till the 3rd one came out.

I think the best superhero movies have been the Christopher Nolan batman series

Saw the new Xmen at the cinema the other night. Really good. Loved the opening with the Sentinal fight especially. Was interesting that you could spot the stock footage (planes taking off at airports etc) this was all pre-4k so the image quality was a lot worse than the main film. (I'm not talking about the newsreel footage btw!)
The future timeline stuff was all very Matrix too.
A solid 8/10

Also watched Olympus Has Fallen on Netflix last night. It was alright but oh-so-predictable.
Fairly zzz6/10

Edge of Tomorrow

Perfectly timed humour, amazing to look at (not just the special effects ;) ) and isn't padded out with loads of filler.

Most of all I liked it because it didn't let me down, I got what I was expecting from it. Most movies I've got hyped up for over the past year have been somewhat lacking, Elysium springs instantly to mind. Says a lot more about just how well they are marketed over the actual quality of the movies.

Oh, and Tom Cruise doesn't do bad movies.

8/10

We went to watch X-,em days of future past this morning.

Only about 12 people in the cinema* (best viewing I've been to in a decade!), so no noise/distraction and unlike every showing I've been to at the Xcape the speakers didn't buzz, distort or cut out - it was almost as if someone had checked the sound system recently (for a modern, recently built cinema the xscape seems to have real problems with it's sound system, almost every time I've been over the last 5+ years there has been a sound issue, ranging from annoying buzz/distortion on the bass, to front/centre speaker not working at all for the first 20 minutes).

But enough of the cinema, the film itself was pretty great as a superhero movie, no unnecessary back story, some great effects, an interesting and reasonably well thought out story, and all the mutants you could want :)
As well as the main story (a variant on the Sentinal story lines), you learned more of the prof, magneto and so on without it being a long backstory.
For someone who likes the comic books (although I'm not a massive fan of them), it was really good :)
I may actually go back and watch First class, which I gave a miss after the rubbish that was X-men 3.

And the clip at after the credits (for which my group where the only ones to stay for), looked good and had my brother in law practically jumping up and down giggling in excitement ;)

*The Point in MK, which seems to have improved over the last few years (but more importantly, easy access with little walking).

Maleficent - 7.5/10 great movie (5 being average). Really watchable although she has an english accent and the soldiers have scots accents..
