What film did you watch last night?

Have a look at Olympus Has Fallen... Similar story, but more of a Serious (if no less over the top) version! Plus Gerrrrrrr'd Butler beefing it up!! :D

Godzilla 8/10

Wasn't expecting much from this to be honest, thought the trailers had given too much away and the mixed reports on here. Thoroughly enjoyed it, the film was nothing like the trailers would suggest it would be and left me with a sort Half-Life-esque film feeling to it especially with the radio chatter, train and an experiment gone wrong type scenarios and quite a serious cinematography/score to it at times. The halo scene had a 2001 vibe to it with the score choice.

Only bad point was Olsen's repeated "oh no I'm terrified" mouth open look she did about half a dozen times and she didn't really add anything to the film.

is the sound track supposed to be twice as loud as everything else.

20mintes in and probably adjusted the volume 10 times at least

Yeah I think it is. I think it's meant to add to the tension the way the music gets real loud then suddenly stops when someone starts talking.

X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014) - 8/10

I echo pretty much all of the positive sentiments already expressed by others.

Easily my favourite X-men film. This and the new Spiderman have spoilt me for great superhero films this year, and GOTG is still to come! :D

The new X Men. Pretty good. There's the usual time travel problems but if you ignore that it holds up well. Surprised at how much language you can get away with in a 12A these days.

Gotg?

How anyone could stand white house down is beyond me, hated it lol. Where are my jordans... Yes we get it, you're black.

Dredd

Not being aware of any contents of the comic background, I thought Dredd setup a great concept of futuristic dystopia within which they didn't try to fit in too much.

I like this.

A strong grounding, explored purely for entertainment purposes, and executed (no pun intended) to a visually stunning standard.

The title character is a deliberately two-dimensional grunt, which highlighted the wonderfully evil traits of Lena Headey's character Ma-Ma. Tilda Swinton move aside, there is a new woman in Hollywood who plays evil just perfectly.

The super slow-mo shots tied in well with the narrative element of the experiential drug of the same name; some of which were visually stunning. The violence is fairly strong compared to other comic adaptations but it feels fitting to the plot's grim setting where the price of life is cheap.

This film won't blow your mind, but if you want a no-brainer without that disappointing dirty feeling when it ends, then give this a watch. It would go down well with crisps & a beer.

7/10

No of course you're entitled to your opinion but I just cannot see why people enjoyed AS2.

Well it had all the elements I wanted from a spidey movie, action, angst, and comedy.

Yes, Garfield's face is more annoying that Toby's, but I felt his version of Parker was much closer to the comic book version.

Did you watch Captain America 2?

Nope, I'm actually very much behind on my non-Sony/Fox Marvel films.

Have yet to see:

Both CAs
Both Thors
IM 3
And therefore Avengers Assemble too.

I didn't bother with the first CA as I find him the most boring Marvel character, I don't read any of his comics, and only really enjoyed him during the Civil War arc.

As it stands, I enjoyed the reboots of both Spiderman and the X-men far more than previous batch.
