What film did you watch last night?

Add 'The Host' to that list.
This was actually the first movie, after The Twilight Saga, which wanted to cash in on those teenage romantics. It didnt really work out.
Then came Hunger Games, followed by Divergent.

They all
1. target a trio of movies
2. have teenagers at the heart of their story (main characters)
3. include some form of young love
4. are all based on books (though most movies are)

I'm sure that there will be plenty more to come.

Just finished watching Rush, at first i looked at the trailer and didn't think much of it then thought i would see peoples views of it on this thread .

The film was a amazing and gave me an insight of proper F1 that my dad and grandfather go on about.

9/10

The Host is a single contained movie (and book), the book was naff, the movie is not any better. Actually the book is written in first person, and you can tell what the girl and the host is thinking inside their head, which the movie can't show, in that regard, the book is better. The Host was written immediately after the Twilight Saga, not sure if it was the writer's intention to cash in, since teen romance books has always been around. But it was the writer's first book outside Twilight so the studio bought the rights for it hoping it'll be a big hit and hoping the whole Twilight crowd will go see it too.

The Hunger Games is actually a good series of books from what I gather, i've not read it and the movies gets quite decent reviews from the critics and viewers. However, I would watch Battle Royal first, it beats them to the idea of a bunch of kids killing each other by over 10 years and does it better without that romance element. It concentrates more on the social aspect.

The hunger games is a sanitised user friendly movie...

BR is amazing

The possession of Michael king.

7/10 just because it had me on the edge of my seat worrying when the next jumpy part is going to happen. These kind of films normally bore me to death as I don't find them scarey at all, nore interesting... but this one did the trick.

The mrs was absaloutly petrified :D

Lights out, surround sound/headphones on and get ready for it. Great film, had me giggling at the fact it actually made me **** my pants a few times nearly :)

Casablanca (for the first time!)

Meant to watch this for many years. It was made even better by sitting outside watching on a big screen open air cinema for the summer nights film festival. Last one of those scheduled for tonight funnily enough, it was chuffing cold!

The film didn't disappoint. An excellent classic like I'd been advised.

Time Bandits - loved it as a kid and my little ones watched it for the first time.

Thoroughly enjoyed it, but i forgot about the ending where the parents touch evil and they blow up - then the credits roll. Both kids piped up, "great, now he's an orphan".

I read some reviews of the movie and apparently it was aimed at 11 year old boys who stated that they thought that scene was funny, whereas girls were concerned at to who would look after him.

X-Men Days of Future Past

Not my favorite and all I could think was Star Trek re-boot.

Time travel films are always tricky to get right.

6/10 good but not great.

Off to see Guardians of the Galaxy this afternoon :)

One of my all time favourites. My parents had it recorded on VHS when I was a kid and I watched it a few times. They just don't make movies like this anymore. They all try to hard where these movies you just know the cast had a great time making it.

Guardians of the Galaxy

Well having seen the previews is was fairly obvious what to expect.

I actually really enjoyed it as a Saturday afternoon cinema treat.

Good mix of action and laughs to keep us entertained. Just a shame someone decided to take their baby to see it and some daft mother couldn't tell her kids to shut up for 5 minutes

7.5/10

Inception

Years late I know, and I am always concerned when an older movie I haven't seen is hyped to oblivion, as they never live up to your expectations.

But holy hell that was BRILLIANT! And that's not just the Balvenie talking. The only 2+ hour film that I didn't feel like I was watching for over 2 hours.

9/10
