What film did you watch last night?

Scarface - 9/10.

Very much a film of its time, and that's what I love about it. Can sure see where GTA Vice City got it's inspiration from!

A surprisingly good Blu-Ray version too, looks nice. :)

Inception

Years late I know, and I am always concerned when an older movie I haven't seen is hyped to oblivion, as they never live up to your expectations.

But holy hell that was BRILLIANT! And that's not just the Balvenie talking. The only 2+ hour film that I didn't feel like I was watching for over 2 hours.

9/10

Chris Nolan hit a home run with that film.

Indeed!

Reading through the original thread and some people's opinions, it seems like a few people didn't like it because it didn't do what they wanted it to do, but I think it was nailed in terms of delivering what Nolan intended. Yes, The Prestige was a bigger goosebump-realisation moment, but that was 4 years prior.

Inception is really well constructed sci fi, and really well told. It introduces a set of rules and then it follows them. It is internally consistent, which is very important in sci fi. The exposition to explain how things work is well done, and then when things happen later on, they make sense because you know what is going on.

That's what people forget, Inception every so often tells you some rules of their universe so you are never wondered "what's going on here?"

The Conjuring - Wow this was a surprise. Brilliant scary film. The 70s setting and the cinematography were great. Suspense and shocks without the gore or violence. Loved it. 8/10

Gravity - Stunning visuals but story was a bit *Meh*. Sandra Bullocks character was a bit annoyingly incompetent for someone who was an astronaut. The whole setting of the film was epic, but the script and story let it down. 6/10

I think we all know how they're watching it (future past), you're just making a point without really saying what you mean ;)

First Class came out way back and it's available loads of places.

The Frozen Ground- 4/10

Really not a very good film at all. Cage is acceptable, Cusack is ok. Not much really happens and it is quite boring. It is all over the place. Like somebody watched Zodiac and tried to emulate it, but had nowhere near the skill of David Fincher.

Ahhh Inception. Definitely one of those films I wouldn't tire of watching. In fact it really needs a play out on the 55" tv now.

I watched The Amazing Spiderman on Thursday night - enjoyed this one much more than the original one from a few years further back 7/10. Looking forward to watching the 2nd new one in 3D this time.

Carrie (2013) - Watched this with the missus and thought it was a fairly good remake. Nothing really outstanding to report 5/10.

Totally agree.
Conjuring was great and Gravity was underwhelming - I actually wanted S.Bullock to die.
