What film did you watch last night?

Transformers Age of Extinction.

Loved it just as much the second time. Grimlock is sorely under used though.

Can't wait to see it again.

8/10

Agreed, it's a solid film and as far as i'm concerned, the first 3 movies don't exist anymore. Best thing they did was get rid of Shia, the CIA guy and LP doing the soundtrack. I do love LP but the soft rock they made for transformers made me puke.

The Signal
7/10

Kept me watching throughout. Not sure what I thought of the ending. Wanted more. Great to see some decent low budget films out recently though.

Coherence
8/10

Another low budget flick, but fantastic and a real head ****er. Worth a watch I'd say.

I watched Blade Runner Final Cut on BBC 2 the other day. I have it on BR, but I was at work when it was on so had to watch it on there. 10/10. Not even slightly overrated. It oozes quality in every department right from the first minute.

Tbh though, I couldn't remember the differences between this and the director's Cut.

Quite enjoyed it tbh, Emily Blunt carries Tom Cruise so much in acting ability.

Mainly composite VFX upgrades and a few deleted scenes restored.
When Deckard walks out to the balcony with his drink the cityscape has been vastly improved, also the dove scene was upgraded to disguise the fact that it was shot in a studio back lot.
The audio was also reworked and the colour palette refined to be more coherent between scenes.

Tom Cruise was a brilliant actor in Edge of Tomorrow.
Emily Blunt was good but not compared to Tom Cruise

Edge of Tomorrow - 9/10

Wasn't expecting much from this, read a few reviews before watching, gave it a go and really enjoyed it. Good solid original idea, Cruise was decent and Blunt was alright too. Quite a clever film in some aspects.

The Wolf of Wall Street (Netflix Canada)
Omg still amazing film, watched it at the cinema. Best thing I've seen this year. I think it was this year anyway. 9/10

I thought it was garbage ! 2 and a half hours long of non-sense and I actually enjoyed the previous 3.

Some of the stuff is just stupid like why does the man made alien metal defy gravity when shifting, or how do they change without scanning at an object, almost every scene i am going "that is absurd !" The bit when they were in Shanghai and said "I know a place in Hong Kong" and drives off.

It'll take about a week !

Sigh, I really wanted to like it as well.

Trying to rationalise and pick holes in the plot for a movie based on robots/aliens from space who transform into stuff.

LOL

You have to take these kinds of movies for what they are. Mindless sci-fi action fun.

Quality film!!! That and Captain Phillips are my favourite films of 2014 by a country mile!

I did turn my brain off but obviously not all of it it seems, those are some of the things that bugged me. The long drive thing is like Costner's Robin Hood moment.

Wolf of Wall Street was so good, I invited my friends round the next night to watch it as well. Great film.

Watched The Ward last night. One of John Carpenter's more recent films. Not bad and better than I thought it would be.

The other film I watched this week was The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. Not bad but still pretty average but worth a watch at home

Yeh I also laugh at people who get serious over these type of films :p

New transformers.

Thought it was crap. I disengaged my brain for it and still ended up picking faults throughout the whole film. Such a rushed film.

The whole point of sci-fi fantasy is once they set up a set of rules, they stick to it. Like Inception makes sense because it sets up the rules and doesn't break them.

Transformers sets up its own rules, but then ignores them without explanation. That is absurd. Not the talking robot part.
