I noticed that Blade Runner was on TV again the other day - tried to avoid it but ended up watching.
That then forced me to replay the PC game version again followed by another rewatch of the film on Iplayer, all this with 7 dvd box set on the shelf. Everytime I buy a coat it subconciously ends up being one that looks like Deckards
It is, still the best film I have ever seen. It was the first DVD (about 2000?) I ever watched and ive been obsessive about it ever since
Last year I went to LA, and managed to get a quick look inside the Bradbury building - I get goosebumps even thinking about it now.
The future world Ridley scott created is recognisable (Globalisation, Immigration) but still retro futurist (Flying cars, clunky computers and no mobile phones) and it is so detailed and looks amazing on screen even with CGI rubbish now
I just love the absolute depth of the film - just the right amount of gaps for ideas and thought to get through leaves a million explanations for even the smallest ambiguity - Is he a replicant? is he a replicant replacement for an old Gaff? Is Deckard the villan and Roy the hero? How is existing even a crime?
The plot points are so balanced I cant decide an outcome of any part of the film which makes me keep rewatching it to try and decide - For some reason I want Deckard happy ending but then does he deserve it ? killing two unarmed women who did nothing wrong but exist? I want Roy to live but then he does "terrible things" it makes you feel like you are an apologist either way
Think ill get the bluray version too - maybe that will help
