What film did you watch last night?

I really didn't like the back third of Skyfall. I keep getting into arguments with the wife over it, haha. As much as anything, it bugs me that he's busy killing folk in the UK, but he works for MI6 so I'm not sure he has any authority to do that on these shores...

I agree with you about Craig and Dalton being palpably tougher. Craig's first 5 minutes kicking ass in the bogs at the start of Casino Royale are spectacular.

The problem I have with a lot of the Craig movies is he's often getting caught out, losing his gun, having a slugging match where he finally manages to get lucky and kill the other guy. I though he was a professional killer? Instead he seems to bodge his way through every fight!

Moonrise Kingdom is one of the best looking films I've ever seen.

When I saw it, I gave it around 2/10.
But from an arts perspective, I can see a score of 9/10 easy.
This is the sort of movie that it was made for an arts degree, it would get near 100% mark.
The big issue I had with the movie is that I hated the kids.
Ever since this movie, I avoid any Wes Anderson movie, though I can definitely see why some people like his movies.

The grand Budapest hotel

Loved it. Witty, great dialogue and awesome style. Not to mention a fantastic cast. I wanted it to last longer, the story ended abruptly and left me wanting more. Ralph Fiennes was brilliant.

9/10

9/10

I watched it for the second time last night, and couldn't sum it up better :)

Boyhood. 5/10

Borehood. I appreciate the time taken to make this film and that it is a technical achievement but boring doesn't begin to describe how i felt. Constantly ramming cultural cliche down your throat to make you appreciate the years going buy (ipods Nintendos, smart phones, Xboxes, fat TVs, Star Wars remakes Gulf war 9/11.) It was like watching a nearly 3h episode of Parenthood.

All the "kids" couldn't act for crap and it was like listening to a high school class reading cheesy cliche lines.

I didn't like it... It will win all the Oscars its nominated for, mark my words....
:(

Fury - A few technicalities and continuity faults aside, a very gritty account of a WW2 tank crew. Great visuals and sound also. 8.5/10

The Interview - quite funny, that is all !

Wanted - Seen before but OK.

No Country For Old Men - Something very menacing about that dude with the cool haircut. Good film though.

Transcendence - Again, pretty good.

A Million Ways To Die In The West - Errrm Jurys out on that, quite funny but a bit **** really.

Just watching films off my Sky box before deleting them all.

The Loft (4/10)
Lack lustre who done it about five married men who share a loft apartment to bang women and one day the dead body of a woman is found hand cuffed to the bed.

Gallipoli 8/10.

Not seen this for a long long time and had forgotten how good it is. Most of the film is set before the fateful day, setting friendships and character, and ends with one of the most poignant end shots committed to screen (not unlike Blackadder Goes Forth) and obviously inspired by the famous shot from the Spanish Civil War. If you've not seen Gallipoli I cannot recommend it enough.

Like the famous phrase said, lions led by donkeys.

Watched the The Second Marigold ... Hotel this week in a parallel viewing with the red carpet premier.
If 5 is average, this is about 6/10. It's a continuation and as ground breaking good as the previous one.

Got Jude with Scarlett Johansson for tonight.

Scarface

Ok, here goes my confesion. I have NEVER seen this film before. Sure i've heard the line "Say hello to my little friend" in TV and other movies and such but personally not got around to watching it. Last night I got in some booze, stuck this on and ... wow ! It was AMAZING !! I was glued to it all the way through. Al Pacino is total bad ass but Michelle Pfeiffer is utterly stunning to look at. 10/10 film for sure. Some great killing scenes, loved it !
