What film did you watch last night?

Grand Budapest Hotel - OK I guess, don't care to watch it again though.

I feel the same though I'm not sure if it's for the same reason. I think I'm just a bit over Wes Anderson films.

Quirky and somewhat original with some great cast members but it's almost like seeing the same film 6 times, great the first couple of times but you're a bit more bored of it each time from then on.

I think he's been on a downhill trend just because he's not really doing anything differently. Where the film ranks I think depends on how much the film is reliant on his style and how much is reliant on the story. From the start he had great stories and characters with a little quirky style thrown in. With each film the Wes Anderson style is stronger and in general the trend is less good stories.

Rushmore, Tenenbaums, Darjeeling are brilliant but rated probably in that order. Zissou, Moonrise, Grand budapest Hotel are less good than the other three and probably again in that order. So the general trend for me is downhill, films started at a 9/10, have moved towards a 6/10 maybe, the only two out of order are Zissou/Darjeeling, switch them around and each film is a bit worse than the last.

Would like to see him do something with a new cast or style.

John Wick would have been better without Keanu Reeves in my opinion - never understood his appeal, don't rate him as an actor at all.

Haven't seen john wick but completely agree with your post. Considering he's what I would call an A-list celeb he is terrible.

I don't agree.. I thought he was great for the part. Subdued and emotionally closed but a brutal killer that was dragged back into the life that he had fought so hard to get out of. This wasn't ever going to be an Oscar nominated film but still great nonetheless. As a matter of fact I found him more believable as the hardcore hitman than most other "action" stars would have in that role.

Misery

Been many many years since I had seen this film so I gave it a rewatch last night. Still as good as I remember. Great film and solid performances from Kathy bates and james caan. 7.5/10.
Great film. One iconic moment that sticks out in the film, is the leg smash up. It still makes me go

Interesting viewpoint.

I don't think this warranted your typical 'action star' - you're quite right that it wouldn't have fit the brooding, world-weary nature of the main protagonist. I do however feel Keanu lacks the necessary depth of emotion and feeling to pull it off successfully. He lacks credibility for me.

The Monuments Men - Didnt expect to enjoy it as much as I did, were some laughs in it. 7/10

I saw that, thought it was fairly average 6/10 but there was one great line, can't remember it exactly but

Damon standing with his foot on a landmine and is asked 'why the **** did you step on a landmine' or something similar, the 'it was a slow day...' reply had me in stiches :D

Nightcrawler 8/10

Laughed so much! I enjoyed Mr. Gyllenhaal in Prisoners and Enemy but I don't think I've truly enjoyed one of his movies like the way I did with Donnie Darko.... until NOW!

Go see this if you haven't already.

Best film I've seen this year!

I have to agree I really enjoyed the film as well.

Mississippi Burning 9/10

Only came across this film thanks to it being mentioned in Suits but very glad I did. Both Gene Hackman and Willem Dafoe put in great performances.

That's an excellent movie. Remember watching that many years ago. Hackman and Dafoe are two of my favorite actors.
