What film did you watch last night?

I watched the Wraith. An old 80's movie with Charlie Sheen.
Loved it as a kid. The acting and effects are a bit naff now but still worth a watch. Even if it is only to witness the bad acting.
5/10

Insterstellar

I love any sort of space/sci-fi films and this one was amazing in my opinion. Delved into some serious situations the human race will be heading towards in the next couple hundred of years.

Great film all around.

Going to see Age of Ultron this Sunday with the GF :D.

"Afflicted", following a recommendation on here. It's very good and I enjoyed the way in which (without spoilers) when something happens that is beyond 'normal' the characters don't spend ages denying it in a stupid fashion. They accept it, test it and move on. Despite the subject matter, it felt very realistic.

7.5/10.

Afflicted (2013)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2309961/reference

Two best friends see their trip of a lifetime take a dark turn when one of them is struck by a mysterious affliction. Now, in a foreign land, they race to uncover the source before it consumes him completely

Started off well but from the middle on-wards it took a massive nose-dive with an ending that can only be described as a heavily concentrated scooby-doo adventure! Certainly not my cup of tea but if you like 'The Walking Dead' you'll probably like this.

Not bad, Not brilliant

Borgman (2013)

5CR00ps.jpg

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1954315/reference

A vagrant enters the lives of an arrogant upper-class family, turning their lives into a psychological nightmare in the process.

Fantastically original Dutch film that will have you thinking WTF just happened when the credits start to roll!!
Not until thinking about it for some time afterwards will things start to make sense!
Absolutely nothing is spoon-fed and it's the sort of film that really requires a second viewing once you 'think' you've worked out what the heck is going on.

Certainly not the best of films if you're tired or looking for some 'popcorn' action / easy viewing, however if you like films that keep you thinking about them for days or even weeks afterwards then this is perfect.

Highly recommended

Airplane Vs Volcano : 3.5 / 10

Sci-fi 'B' movie in the Sharkando vein. Terrible yes, but definitely watchable....with a few beers! It also had Dean Cain and Robin Givens in it....boy, their careers have tanked :p

The Device : 0.5 / 10

Don't bother :)

Riddick

Really quite enjoyed it.

I love Pitch Black, hate what they did with Riddick in Chronicles....

Continues with light spoilers:
(Riddick's awsome because he's a total badass, making his badassery be down to some sort of "unicorn" alien genetics is a total mis-step, and the big space-opera format was just not in keeping with the character. Plus those necromongers were just plain ****), and this 3rd film was a return to the formula of the first.

The Johns family redemption stuff was a bit forced, and it was really just a rehash of Pitch Black's setup, but it was fun anyway.

Age of ultron 6/10. How come matey with the arrows never gets low on stock?

That's the part of the film that you found unbelievable?? ;)

Pretty decent film in my eyes - 8/10
although bad as he was I expected Ultron to be a bit more difficult to kill that he ended up being!?! The part where he half-inched all the vibranium, I though for sure he was going to build a super-tough body to mirror the comic of him being made of adamantium!

That was what he was trying to do - that was what Paul Bettany's character would have become if they hadn't interrupted him.

That's not how I understood it - my understanding was that he used the vibranium to connect to the drill and somehow magnetise it to hold the huge chunk of earth together so he could drop it and kill off mankind!

I thought that the Vision was physically finished - all he had left to do was download his base consciousness into him!?!?!?

From Wikipedia: The synthetic being, now referred to as the Vision, and the Maximoffs accompany the Avengers to Sokovia, where Ultron has used the remaining vibranium to build a machine to lift a large part of the city skyward, intending to crash it into the ground to cause global extinction

In the comics Ultron himself was virtually impossible to damage, let alone destroy!
