What film did you watch last night?

John Wick 6/10

lots of shooty scenes with threadbare plot.

The Equalizer 6/10

Was expecting a bit more considering the reviews and it being Denzel!
So many scenes where Denzel is strolling away from an explosion or a bunch of dead guys looking cool as always but...meh. Lets not bother filming that scene because hey its Denzel he wins.... rather far fetched film.

Interstellar 6/10

I though it was ok, not as good as i was hoping, it went silly towards the end for me

I have a few questions though i hope can be cleared up

Would time dialation really effect that chap who was orbiting while the 2 were on the planet? surely he'd age give or take same as those on the planet?

If these robots could be programmed like there were (humour, honesty etc) could fly a ship, could walk around etc, why wernt they just sent on the mission?

and last question, the robot mentions he disables the auto docking precedure as he didnt trust Dr Mann, why did he never mention this before it all went wrong?

No the planet was closer to the blackhole, the ship was orbiting was further out, beyond the effects. So he would be aging pretty much relative to people on earth, where the people on the planet would age much slower.

The other 2 just make a better film :) sending robots wouldn't be as good as actors.

Was on a plane for a few hours, so:

Here's Where I Leave You 6/10
Will watch anything with Jason Bateman or Tina Fey. Superb ensemble cast but the script didnt cut it.

Kingsman: The Secret Service 9/10
Big fan of Matthew Vaughn but got a bit of a wobble with the "rough kid" makes good idea going in. Who'd have thought Colin Firth could be swayed with a role with that much action? That church scene was the most inventive, kinetic, punch-in-the-face draw-dropper I can think of since The Dirty Dozen. Brutal, rated 15-flick. More of this please, Brit-flicks.

John Wick [Unrated]
I hung on as long as I could, but it had to go off. 30 mins of wife-dying, Russians, classic car-driving, adopts a puppy, cliche-ville.

Ex Machina [7/10]
Didn't know what to make of the film after seeing the trailer but this one underlines why Oscaar Isaacs and Domhnnall Gleeson are the men of the moment. Beautiful turn by Alicia Vikander. No spoilers with this one.

Interstellar

Very good film indeed. Very bold. Had a slight disagreement with a friend who said the end was very disappointing. I think to try and conceptualise things like wormholes and general relativity to the layman who may know nothing about this is always going to be difficult.

Solid 8/10 for me

Probably going to get torn to pieces for this one, but I guess I just have a childish immature sense of humour.

Horrible Bosses 2 - 8/10. I laughed lots.

I've just lost all respect for you :(

He is definitely kidding about the Stallone one being better.

Forum ban, pls.

Wow, that's wow. Never normally comment on peoples likes since you know its what you like. But Judge Dredd is truly awful and Dredd is pretty good :)

Its not often i wish death on someone, but....

For just a short time, I thought I was on the TrollcUK boards, thankfully my faith is restored, and I wasn't in GD at all :)
Dredd was a decent film that was very true to the concept of Dredd. Keep Stallone away, forever.

Age of Ultron. 5/10

Went nowhere fast, Ultron hardly did anything, Vision was hardly used and there were far to many attempts at humor when there was no need for it. The Hawkeye plot also totally lost the plot and I just wanted him to die a horrible, slow and painful death.

Dredd is just a remake of The Raid, Judge Dredd has a better story plus a big robot so it's a easy win for Sylvester Stallone plus it's up there with Demolition Man which is a classic movie

I'm not going to argue with Demolition Man being a classic. The Stallone Judge Dredd was a steaming pile of ****. Picked a few ideas from the "source material" and just threw the rest away. Judge Dredd wasn't Judge Dredd, he was Stallone.

If I stumbled across Demolition Man on a rainy afternoon on ITV9+1 I'd carry on watching. If it was Judge Dredd (and it hardly ever gets shown) I'd turn the telly off and go do something I hate instead like clean the fish tank filter out.
