What film did you watch last night?

I watched the Martian last night, I thought it was superb!

An easy 9/10, one of the best I've seen this year.

The Martian

Strip away and humanity and emotion from the Castaway...Any sense of peril in Apollo 13 and thats The Martian.

Void of any real emotion Character connection or peril. No shouting at the screen or edge of your seat "come on Watney you can do it" moments, he just did while cracking Jokes.

5/10

I've always thought Matt Damon was a wooden actor. Not seen this film yet but will give it ago sometime.

Everest - 7/10

Not a bad way to spend a couple of hours - Based on a true story. Must have been terrifying for those involved for real.

Man from U.N.C.L.E. - 6/10

As a fan of the old 60's TV series, I was half looking forward to this & 1/2 expecting it to be poor.
Unfortunatly, it was the latter, just didn't do it for me. Cast were just not right IMO, & what Hugh Grant is doing in it I have no idea !

Highlight for me & the wife was spotting all the scenes what were filmed in Rome & where we'd stood !:D

Oldboy (US remake)

It was never going to be as good as the original, but Brolin played it very well as always.
I don't know if the twist lacked any real impact because you know exactly what's gonna happen if you've seen the original, or whether it just wasn't done right. Hard to say.

All in all, a decent enough remake - though the one upon which it's based is vastly superior in every way.

Sharlto Copely's character was a bit much IMO.
Elizabeth Olsen was yummy.
Samuel L Jackson did his thing.

Ant Man - Fun new Marvel film, liked the link with the Avengers, what I didn't like was the fact that the whole film was about the power of the shrinking ability and the whole controlling of ants was just pretty much a given. It just struck me as odd. Anyway, it was fun and my kids especially liked Thomas the Tank making an appearance! 3/5

Steve Jobs (2015).

Well, something kept me watching though I'm not entirely sure what; perhaps it was the 'tennis match of words' which enticed you further on. Overall not bad, but at least Kate Winslet was as lovely as ever (6 ish / 10).

In the Heart of the Sea. Starring Chris H. Emsworth. Based on the first person account that inspired the book that came after the novel.

It's the early 19th century, and whales continue their aggressive push into human territory. Just when all seems lost, the plucky crew of the Lady Mary Nancy Jane Nantucket Spring fights back in the only way they know how...

7.5/10.

The Good The Bad The Weird

Such a great film. Good balance of action and comedy all set in the great West.
