What film did you watch last night?

Aliens and T1 below T2 is an opinion, not one I'd advocate myself, but hey go for it.

I prefer John Carpenters - the thing to the lot of em, still T1 3 stars seems pretty harsh in my book.

I'd probably give them all 5 stars if it came to rating them... Just for different reasons.

I would say T2 was Hollywood cashing in. It didn't offer anything new over the orginal. Basically the same story with a role change. Just a bigger budget, more action, CGI instead of stop motion effects etc.

The tone was lighter and having John Connor certainly didn't help. Asking Arnie to smile in T2 was just as cringeworthy

T1 is like a dark full-bodied Brazilian Coffee. Authentically , intrinsically Menacing.Served by a mysterious beautiful woman.

T2 is a light thin bodied instant coffee with a very expensive label. Laced with saccharin. Served by an annoying teenager who plays to many console games.(John Connor )

No need for that.

When you're saying that people are mental for not having the same opinion as you and that it's night and day, you're basically presenting it as a fact. One that you can't believe other people don't agree with you on.

What I meant is that it should be supremely obvious that it is my opinion. I'm very aware of this. To paraphrase Maddox, who else's opinion is it going to be?:p

It's not rude to avoiding pre-empting everything with "IMO". It's totally unnecessary. The only time IMO should be used is if a) you are treading around a sensitive subject, or b) feel the need to demonstrate an awareness of numerous viewpoints (as if to suggest there isn't much in it either way).

That said, I'm happy to be very objective with my opinions with the arts, which are entirely inconsequential. It's my opinion that it's a fact that T2 is a better film. If you can't say a film is bad, or music is bad, then nothing can ever be bad (even if it makes your eyes and ears bleed you'll be there going "this sucks!!! But IMO..... Only IMO").

I'll save the 'IMHO's for politics, helping mates with relationship woes / life problems and (importantly) covering my ass at work :p

Also, that's not saying it's acceptable to be a total chaod monster and relentlessly subject others to your opinion / be patronising / troll people of differing opinion - certain 'star wars' commentators take note! But sorry if I've upset you in some way!

Ok, looks like the Interstellar honeymoon is over, I disagree with you again :p

Yeah, that's all very clever, but I wasn't saying you needed to say 'IMO'.
I'm well aware that it was just your opinion - One that was presented as pretty much a fact that other people were mental to not agree with. That's all.

As for T2, it is better in some ways and I recognise that. I just find that I enjoy T1 a lot more.

Either way, I'm sure we can agree that they both **** over all the other films in the series at least :D

Haha ok my bad - quite fancy watching T1 again now!

I have to say, T3 was a lot better that I remembered second time around (some years later). Perhaps wisely it went for humour rather than try to tackle 'the big guns'.

So what's T3 - Baldricks special coffee?

No worries mate...The problem with T2 is that its not an 18...There are some cool bits in it without doubt. But overall when you look past the CGI its mediocre at best with excellent action sequences bolted on.

(Disclaimer: the above is the author's personal opinion and is not the opinion or policy of anyone here posting in the "what film did you watch last night" thread unless you too like easyrider do not rate T2 and much prefer T1 :D)

The Big Short 8/10

Really enjoyed this two a bit hour Hollywoodization of the American financial crisis of 2008.

It shows how corrupt financial institutions were/are and just dont care.

Two small roles stole the film for me were the two mortgage brokers who seemed to gleefully relish in the fact that they would **** people over....until of course it all came crashing down.

Only thing that really irked me was that talking direct to the camera addressing the audience thing, not needed.

The Martian - 9/10

Absolutely brilliant movie, and probably Matt Damon's best to date IMO.

Makes Gravity and the likes comical, Ridley Scott did a stellar job with the production of this movie.
