What film did you watch last night?

Not long back from the cinema, went to see the new star wars film with a mate, never been into the franchise, thought the film was meh (dont hate XD)

Sicario

I was disappointed, maybe my expectations were too high. The first 40 mins were great, good pace and tension. Then I felt it dropped off in middle but saved by last 30 mins.

The Revenant 7/10

DiCaprio uses his 'particular set of skills' to take on TressFX/Hairworks gentle Ben....also a decent revenge flick, must have enjoyed it and did not realise it was nearly two and a half hours long.

Director must have been a huge Star Wars fan, big nod to TESB :D

Half way through watching Terminator Genisys. The tenuous storyline and time travelling anomalies made me wish I hadn't bothered.

I honestly don't know why they persist with making sequels when they always pale in comparison, and a movie of this scale and generous budget could have easily paved the way with a new scifi storyline.

The Lives of Others

#55 on the IMDB top 250 films list and unlike some this is worthy of it :
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0405094...-1&pf_rd_t=15506&pf_rd_i=top&ref_=chttp_tt_55

I saw this soon after it's release but I got quite a bit more from watching it this time around. While it's hard to put this on a top 10 list due to the nature of the film, it would likely get into a lot of people's top 20. Regardless, it'll leave a lasting impression.

The Theory of Everything.

Just brilliant. Had my attention 100% from start to finish and made me well up more than a few times. 9.5/10.

Point Break (2015) 4/10

Loved the original and this was just poor. I was not expecting a great movie but despite some of the great set pieces the film just annoyed me. I also cannot decide if the actress/love interest in the film is attractive....a moot point.

Spotlight (2015) 9/10

A great movie with a great cast as well. Fundamentally its about the Boston Globe's article on institutional child molestation in the Catholic church and the various hurdles and obstacles that come their way in uncovering the truth.

Steve Jobs (2015) 8/10

Everyone knows the story. Fassbender is great as Jobs. The fact that the timelines of events in the film may be incorrect are irrelevant to the truth IMO. Boyle has managed to fit Jobs' story into three set pieces in the film. each set piece being the launch of various Apple or Next products.

Fury - Bought a digital copy on Amazon Prime with some promotional credit. After a while faffing around to get the 5.1 working on the PS4 app, I got it working and sat down to enjoy it.

It was a fairly good yarn, a bit slow at times, predictable in nature, but a good film if you don't want to concentrate too much and enjoy some "America **** yeah" antics.
