What film did you watch last night?

Were you shocked like me.......

When they showed that huge list of church sex abuse scandals at the end? I looked close, one of them was Reading!

Not really to be honest, more surprised at how awful we as humans turn a blind eye to this. It's horrible, and how it can exist to such a scale is just mind blowing.

I'd bet it still exists.

Beasts of No Nation 7/10

A war drama about a young boy who is abducted and forced to fight as a boy soldier in a civil war in an unidentified sub-Saharan African country.

Spotlight

Excellent film. Kept me interested all the way through. New little twists being opened up here and there. One of those films that gets you really interested in the subject and even though the film finished at gone 1am, I was up for another hour reading about it on the internet.
One of the priests was murdered in prison
A film that can quite easily turn people against religion.

Was shocked at the end when they said that new scandals had been uncovered in.....I was expecting about 4 or 5, not 5 pages worth
All the cast were great, but Ruffalo was excellent. His impassioned speech was an amazing piece of drama. 9/10 for me and worthy Oscar favourite.

Supremacy

Difficult watching this at some point. I'm not someone bothered by such things usually, but the unfettered racism from the main characters got to me somewhat. Quite tense all the way through. Turns out it again it is a true story. Some crazy **** happens in this world. Pretty good watch, sometimes unsettling. Nice to see Danny Glover. Looks so old now. 6/10.

Agreed, an excellent movie.

Spotlight, 6/10.

I dunno what to say about this. I read the comments above, seen a couple of reviews that spoke glowingly about it, but it just didn't really do it for me. I didn't find it emotionally engaging as I was expecting it to be. It wasn't a bad movie, but its just not a film I would be interested in watching again. Apart from a bit of investigative journalism, not much really happened.

Triple 9. 5/10.

Pretty decent and tense action sequences, all well choreographed but the plot was utterly bewildering and Kate Winslets accent was just ridiculous. So many plot holes and so much confusion.

Ride Along - 8/10

I liked the story line and I am looking forward to watching the next one. It had some funny parts to it, the action scenes were realistic.

I thought the trailer looked pretty good and was planning on going to see this - didn't think it was out until the end of the month though?

Watched Prisoners last night on channel 4, found it a tough gritty film, with some excellent acting, and exceptionally creepy acting from a few.
Good film 8/10
Unlikely to make you feel better about the world.

question: the creepy guy with the snakes in the house, was he anything to do with it, or just a fantasist, trying to recreate events?

Room 7/10

The GF says it kept loyal to the book on which it is adapted from. It starts very interesting with plenty of questions but as time goes on, by about 2/3rds in, i found myself frankly uninterested and bored, started looking at the time and all other typical signs.

Im sure that because i lost interest i missed out on a lot of the final 3rds relevance but it was far less interesting .. No Spoilers .. lol

As charming as it is to be from the perspective of a 5 year old it soon got tedious after the unpteenth pun/joke/awww

Karate Kid (original). 7/10.

Watched this so long ago, it was refreshing to watch it again with the young family! Didn't realise it was over 2hrs though.

Kids loved it and didn't get bored which is always a good sign. The only slight downer was for me was the final, final fight - it was over in seconds - so much build up and just like sex, a disappointing finish :(

Not sure how they could have made it more exciting as it was only one crane kick - but, kick, down, credits wtf?!

Still a solid movie with KK 2 to watch now!

Oh and Elizabeth Shue!!

Prisoners 8/10

Really solid gritty movie, I'm not a fan of Hugh Jackman but he really excelled in this, he came across as positively unhinged at times in the lengths he went to to find his daughter, my only gripe about the movie was the ending, why oh why did they have to end it like that?, arghhhhhhh!... :p

Macbeth ... Absolutely stunning cinematography. The Scottish landscape has never looked so good on film IMO..... I did struggle to follow the dialogue, not only because of the language (I'm no Shakespeare buff) but also the delivery, which was often in gruff whispers... I had to concentrate hard, to follow the story.

If after seeing The Revenant you're after another visceral, blood-soaked film, with amazing visuals and great performances, you won't be disappointed... plus, Marion Cotillard is lovely to look at :o

8/10
