What film did you watch last night?

Zoolander 2, great sequel, all the silliness and good fun of the first movie and you could all tell they were enjoying doing this one. Cumberland and Sutherland were superb in their cameos. Is it just me or is Penelope Cruz doing a Beckinsale wherein she gets hotter as she gets older?

7/10

Cineworld Unlimited Secret Screening. :)

Oh FFS, the secret screening was Triple 9? Why do I never risk it!

I would have gone but assumed it would be PP&Z :(

I was kinda hoping it would have been Concussion but hey-ho, I quite like the secret cinemas, its a good bit of fun! A full screening a the cineworld in Leigh, with only about 15 walkouts.

Spectre, now it isn't Daniel Craigs fault that this was a bit meh! The script was poor, excluding the first scene it managed to make the action seem dull and as far as abit boring, the car chase was also a snore as was the villian for the most part. It isn't bad but it isn't good either I'd say it's okay and only worth renting. Sky fall and casino royal both far far better

The Hateful Eight

As a fan of Tarantino I was looking forward to this, however it was a let down for me. The story was just not up to his usual best and it never engaged me, I found parts of it slow moving and uninteresting. Not one of his best efforts and I won't watch it again.

Goldfinger - classic Bond, nice to see Q so young! 4/5

Chappie - I really enjoyed this film about a robot coming alive, I know that it is hardly original, has some huge plot holes and some of the characters, especially Hugh Jackman, are pathetically one dimensional but it has a real heart and is a good watch. Also as with all Neill Blomkamp films the special effects are so effective that they are just real, if you know what I mean. It does make me want to watch District 9 again... 4/5

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. If you want to see a chimpanzee riding a horse and wielding two guns then this is the film for you.

I liked the tension, and the feeling that despite the best intentions of some characters there was no way to stop the chaos caused by those with more power and less wisdom.

Got dragged to the cinema to see this thinking it'd be a load of diddly-do with guys in monkey suits. Came out with my mind blown, I really loved it!

Creed.

I can't get the critical acclaim for this film. I didn't think it was great at all. Apart from Stallone, the acting was atrocious. Bellew will certainly never have a career as an actor, and Creed himself is no great shakes. The story was just ridiculous.
As if a fighter that new would get a shot at titles that quickly, regardless of who his dad was. And I highly doubt anyone would be allowed to box professionally whilst awaiting trial for a gun possession charge!
Stallone was the best thing about this film and his acting at times was excellent. Really started to look like an old man through it, but in terms of the Oscar for best supporting actor, I don't think his performance even compares to Mark Rylance's excellent turn in Bridge of Spies.

Overall 5/10 for me.

Just a mention on something in the spoiler tag -
While I do agree that it's unlikely he'd get a shot so quick it can happen - recently (within the last few years) a fighter fought for a world title in his 2nd bout, the only reason it wasnt in his 1st (as far as I'm aware) was that he needed atleast one fight to get a ranking, now he did have an extensive amateur career but it is possible

The Big Short (2015) 9/10

Great, great movie. I am usually a sucker for these type of movies and this was a brilliant example.

Both Bale and Pitt were excellent!

I saw this the weekend before last and loved it too, it was a dry topic but they really made it fun and interesting.

I can say with all honesty that I enjoyed it more than Wolf of Wall Street and came out feeling like I'd learned something to boot.

Steve Carell was imo the best performance in the film, followed by Christian Bale.

Sicario - 9/10 - Full of suspense, brilliant visuals and a powerful soundtrack. One of the best thrillers of recent years!

Benicio del Toro is bloody cool.
