What film did you watch last night?

Deadpool

Anarchic, irreverant, fourth-wall breaking, wise-cracking fun with a superhero-ish movie going on behind it. It's not perfect, but it is very enjoyable.

9/10

P.S. There are end credits.

Best bit of the film for me was when Neilsen is talking to the pilot

Rumack: Captain, how soon can you land?
Captain Oveur: I can't tell.
Rumack: You can tell me. I'm a doctor.
Captain Oveur: No. I mean I'm just not sure.
Rumack: Well, can't you take a guess?
Captain Oveur: Well, not for another two hours.
Rumack: You can't take a guess for another two hours?

The comic timing of Neilsen and the pause that he does before he says the You can't take a guess for another two hours, is pure perfection :)

Predestination 7/10

There were times I hadn't got a clue what was going on with the plot, but eventually I caught up & found it a mildy enjoyable watch.

Point Break (2015) - Liked the guy playing Bodie, the stunts were a big step up but ultimately it had no heart, just a move from set piece to set piece. Did enjoy it though, 5/10.

The Matrix (1999). 8.9/10.

One of my favourite movies of all time. I try to pretend its sequels didn't exist, as the ending of this was near perfect imo.

Still kind of unreal thinking it was 1999. A lot of it still holds up apart from the old CRT displays/phones. I can still remember all the hype/buzz/excitement from people always talking about it.

To think, one of those directors brothers became a woman...

Last night had the viewing pleasure of...

The Martian (DVD) - A great film, thoroughly enjoyed it. Would certainly watch it again especially on Blu-Ray or on a bigger screen. 9/10

Sicario (DVD) - A very good film, although considering the number of 4 & 5 Stars slapped over the cover I was expecting it to be much better than I found it to be. 7/10

Tonight I've got The Transporter Refueled.

A Walk Among The Tombstones

Watched this tonight and enjoyed it. Liam Neeson tracks down a pair of psychotic kidnappers as a former cop turned PI.

Deadpool, 6/10, relatively funny, but strip all that back and there sits the plain old predictable plotline of a standard marvel movie. Boring, unimaginative, bangy crashy buildings fall down, save the girl the end. Whoops! Have I just spoilt the plot?!

Dads army, 6/10, it wasn't great, I liked it more because of the nostalgia and memories of the TV show, but its jokes fell a bit flat and corporal Jones was an unfunny non-entity in this.

Deadpool. And it was decidedly average IMO. A lot of jokes and digs about comics and comic book movies sure but overall as a film? Slightly above average. 6/10. Sorry! Not been a huge fan of any comics, I mean I know the main characters and most of the back story but this just felt like an hour of Origin story, final fight then the finish where he gets the girl. Again. (Morena Baccarin added the extra 1 to bring it up to 6.)
