What film did you watch last night?

One of my favourites. Still remember watching it at the cinema and coming out thinking WOW!

It's one of them films for me I just don't get bored watching it.

Classic!

Really hope they do some more matrix films, you never know. . .
Even though I loved the 1st, I didn't really like the 2nd much, and hated the 3rd, i would like a 4th just out of curiosity sakes to see how where the story could be taken

Insanity is doing the same thing twice and expecting different results. Why would the downward trajectory change?

Fright Night 2... having finally tracked down a decent quality Blu-ray from, of all places, Rainforest Spain. Previous copy was a 4:3 DVD which was essentially a VHS transfer. Not much point on a 55" 4K screen!

Still enjoyable and actually prefer over the first one, apart from the irritating vamp/wolf character (Louie I think), probably the Brad Fiedel electric guitar themed soundtrack that stands out most of all over the at times "camp" acting...

Get Out - 9.5/10

Acting superb, script amazing, overall a thoroughly entertaining film. Not sure what genre this falls into it certainly wasn't a horror, I didn't find it scary in the slightest, more 'eerie' but it had some proper laugh out loud moments thrown in. I don't think I've ever seen a film twice in the cinema but I want to watch this one again, I think once you know the main twist (which I did not see coming) you can pick up things the second time round and I'm sure the director has dropped things in there. I remember seeing the trailer to this and thinking what a bizarre looking film but it's the best film I've seen in ages.

Passengers - 8/10

Quite liked this actually. Just easy viewing and flowed quite well. The acting didn't seem particularly great, especially from Crisp Ratt which was surprising but apart from that it was decent enough.

I totally would have woken up about 20 hotties.

Doctor Strange - I liked this, funky effects and good work by all concerned I thought, look forward to seeing how he integrates with the rest of the Marvel gang in the upcoming films. 4/5

Guardians Vol 2 is next up on the Marvel front which is extremely exciting!

The Girl With All The Gifts. Fairly small scale zombie type film. Pretty grim stuff, quite bleak. The ending reminded me a lot of I Am Legend - the book, not the abysmal Will Smith film.

Ghost in the Shell (new one) - 8/10 (5 being average) Really liked it and so did the wife.

It's not hollywood. It's not entirely manga but keeps the traits and shorts in a comic book style. Look at the horizontal/vertical lines of the landscapes and the cars the fronts and interiors look like manga based on 1970s/80s styling.

Liked the plot and the pace is slower than most hollywood but still needed something to 'spike' the score to 9/10 there's just something that Bladerunner had above this but it's a decent film.

The Saint (1997)

Not seen since it came out and it was just as good as I remembered. Val Kilmer on top of his game, Elisabeth Shue too. It's a PG film that still feels 'adult' and not watered down to fit the rating. Just a shame you can't buy it on bluray.

8/10

Dredd.
Watched it again, love this film, Karl Urban is Dredd, he fulfils the role very well, very honest to the source material.
Just a drug bust. A single day for a judge.
9/10

Damn shame it didn't make enough for a sequel. They could have had a wonderful series of films.

Kong: Skull Island

6/10

I love mindless entertainment, but so much of this was just ridiculous. Lots of plot holes that are just too silly.

Hardcore Henry - 7.5/10. Had to watch in 2 separate sittings as the shaky cam is vomit inducing (i suffer with all movies like this :\) But enjoyed the movie and similarity to modern day FPS. Quite funny and gory in some places too.

Split and Train to Busan later this week!

I'm genuinely surprised that
people did not pick up the fact that Chris Pratt essentially murders JL in passengers.

He essentially wakes her up to serve a life sentence trapped on a ship.

The whole film is sinister !!! With light comedic moods....The film is all over the place!

Split

Good acting from Mcavoy but I was underwhelmed by the film itself...I was bored.

Prevenge

Darkly funny in places...Enjoyed sightseers more.

A Street Cat Named Bob
Only peripherally aware of the true story behind this, but as a cat owner this ticked all the right boxes.

Steals her planned future perhaps. Changes her life. As you said, it could be suggested he's given her a life sentence. But not murder.

Basically his selfish actions (diddums I'm all alone) deny her of a life...

Then we are meant to care for this character and have a laugh with him?

The film sucked! Imo :)
