What film did you watch last night?

The Edge Of Tomorrow (2014) - 8/10

I quite enjoyed this and thought it was a decent modern take on Ground Hog Day but with a Sci-Fi twist.

Good acting with some funny moments and fantastic GCI along with a thumping soundtrack.

I really enjoyed, not sure if that's the right word, Speak No Evil. It's marvellously frustrating and drives the point home well about how everyone these days is too scared to speak up for fear of offending someone.

It deliberately goes over the top with that point for the sake of the movie and the director has spoken about it. He originally wanted to do a comedic satire about how Scandinavians are 'too damn polite' but felt like horror would hammer the point home a bit harder.

Definitely a marmite movie though.

How would you rate it?
I could write a long essay about my thoughts on modern day/current films but I'll just say that my expectations are low.

With that in mind, I was pleasantly surprised, I only watched it because I saw some of the comments on here saying WTF etc. I still don't quite understand how everything in the film works but I was able to follow the storyline and I quite liked it. Not sure what I'd rate it, 6.5?/10? Unsure if it's worthy of a 7? Possibly!

Next 3 days with R. Crow https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1458175/ 8/10
gripping kept you on the edge with twists - shared gene pool with usual suspects, last night on freeview , cameo by Neeson, but better than his action movie franchise.

e: hadn't realised Neeson - took his I will find you and kill you quote from james woods / carpenters vampires (just on) I will hunt you down and kill you

If you want another decent horror with Rebecca Hall check out Resurrection - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt11540726

It's needlessly downrated on IMDB (as most horror is) and is easily a 7/10 movie. There is a scene with Hall, just telling a story about her past that's totally engrossing and terrifying at the same time, she is a great actress.

I also agree that The Night House is excellent, almost never gave it a try as the trailers didn't do it any favours. Just checked, rated 6.5/10 on IMDB, absolute joke of a score.
Watched Resurrection tonight! She was great again, blimey that one went dark.

Asteroid City 3/10

Couldn't get on with it at all. Not that I don't like Wes Anderson films, The Life Aquatic is a charming little film IMO. Found AC very boring. A few likeable moments but on the whole a nope from me.

GF was convinced it was deliberately bad as a comment that you can make a bad film with an excellent cast. :)
