What film did you watch last night?

Aftersun - 8/10.

Not sure I’d say it’s an enjoyable film as such, certainly not one to watch again and again, but it is good. Hits hard with the underlying implication of what is to come.

Finally got to watch Training Day on 4K Blu-ray. Great picture and sound and a very good film. A nice addition to the collection.

Gone in 60 Seconds (the Cage one not the GOAT OG), T2, infinite replayability with either thanks to such great casting throughout.

Might have to treat myself to Out Of Sight, for the hundreth time tonight... Such a good film, J-Lo really can act too IMHO, especially in this, tbf even in silly stuff like Anaconda she was believable, I love it when someone from a different trade/art can pull off something else, Timberlake seems to be a decent actor too, if anyone has seen Palmer, he is stellar in that!

I thought it was dire, far too slow and an absolute nonsense ending.
I'm intrigued, what was nonsense about it?

GH's prediction came true, a civil war had begun. So they were going to retreat to the shelter. I thought using the Friend's theme as the end track was brilliant

Wonka (2023) - 9/10

A splendidly wonderful heartfelt film filled with entertaining set pieces and family friendly humour.

It’s a good story told through a great cast of characters, all of whom are well acted, and has a number of spectacular settings and silly jokes.

There’s plenty of magic, extravagant musical numbers and catchy songs and the pacing and tone is consistently good.

A slight case of too many villains, but I thoroughly enjoyed it and just like a good chocolate bar, it left me craving more.

Hmm, high praise! If we have a few other similar reviews my arm could be twisted to see it.

My concern is that I’d find it a bit too ‘magical / whimsical’ - I find that a bit saccharine and fake… you know?

Getting myself in my usual Christmas spirit.

Viking Wolf. Half decent.
There’s Someone in Your House. I was predicting pretty much everything in the film and when the finale happened I realised I’d seen it before. Though I was clairvoyant for a while.
Black Friday. Half way through, as I type, and it’s pretty ****.

Guy Ritchie's The Covenant

We both really enjoyed this.

It was way better than I thought it would be and not just a run of the mill war action film. The story was pretty moving.

Leave the world behind.

One of the best sounding movies I've heard in a long time. If you have a decent sound system heck even a fairly decent soundbar it's absolutely incredible.

Godzilla minus one. 7/10

It's fine but don't get excited.
Godzilla not my thing tho so I'm not the best audience member.

Hmm, sounds about right off the back of the unanimous gushing for it.

I think everyone is really desperate to back something that is ‘unexpectedly fun’.

Everyone loves an underdog.

I remain curious though!
