What film did you watch last night?

X and Pearl

Enjoyed both of these, really like Mia Goth. If anything the prequal was actually slightly better. Neither are overly ambitious but both just really well made and gripping slashers.

Prisoners - Savage film, seen it many times, still one of THE best Hugh Jackman performances ever, if you want to see him do something for once that isn't him playing Mr Nice Guy, then this is for you.
Jake Gyllenhaal is amazing in this too (no surprise).

The Black Phone - Seen it before, very nice to see Ethan Hawke do something out of his comfort zone, they had to beg him multiple times to do this as he didn't agree with playing a twisted bad guy, worth a watch. Has some decent moments and isn't very long.

Absolutely cracking film. Unexpectedly brutal though dare I say it, understandably so. But for anyone who’s not seen it, it’s so much more than just your run of the mill, OTT on the violence, vengeance type film. Great performances all round but as you say, Jackman and Gyllenhaal were just brilliant.

Out of Time (2003)

Denzel Washington as a small town sheriff in the Florida Keys. A bit slow to start and by the time it does, you've figured it out. Not bad or great, but a film you've sorted of seen done before but watchable non the less.

6/10

LotR The fellowship of the ring 9/10

My local cinema is doing all 3 extended editions 1 a week.

Arse meltingly long 3h 20someting minutes been 20 years since I saw it at a cinema.

A piece of cinematic history tbh :p and meme history.

Before the Devil Knows You're Dead https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0292963/

Really enjoyed this, surprised I haven't heard about it sooner. Great performances by all.

Very sad series of events, and where no one wins…
Watched it after seeing this comment.

I liked it too, my only criticism is that I don't think it needed the element of changing time periods, I think it detracted something from the film.

It's on Amazon Prime for free btw. If you like gritty films then this is one for you.
