What film did you watch last night?

Twisters - exactly what I expected, predictable and cliched as hell, but to be fair I really enjoyed it, proper brain switch off summer movie.
Unfortunately the sound went off for the last 3 minutes which was a bit of a bummer, gift vouchers for the next movie handed out.

Yeah I just watched twisters, I enjoyed it, but then I enjoyed the original as a kid too.

It was a pretty good film to watch at the cinema and the plot was a bit better than the first I thought

I'd give it a 7/10

John Wick 4 - 7/10

It was dumb fun. Looked amazing. I felt like I was watching some kind of computer game though and some of the fight scenes went on a little too long.

Watched Horizon Chapter One - Pretty good western but I think it suffered from following too many different threads. Should have narrowed it down more. Hopefully the next one will start to bring everyone together more 7/10

Watched a few of the old X-men films in preparation for Deadpool and Wolverine

X-men - 7/10 I remember this being better tbh, some of the dialogue is terrible. The casting is mixed, Magneto, Prof and Wolverine are great but Storm and Magneto's lackeys are pretty dreadful
First Class - 7/10 Again mixed casting, the main two are brilliant but Shaw and Frost are both pretty dreadful.

What does a toad do when struck by lightning… come on peak cinema right there!

Brokeback Mountain (2005)

Didn't see this when it came out, but definitely worthy of all the praise it received at the time.

8/10

Twisters, I max 5/10
not too keen on Glen Powell, but my mum likes him
He looks like he is enjoying his fame though, I wish I was him, if only to have had a go at Gigi Paris, his ex.
sound okay,
expected more for the Imax speakers though a lot of dialogue was too low
Music good, especially if you already know the cowboy music, best thing about the film
story, bit meh, and predictable
cgi, was good, carried the movie tbh
worth the night out, but I wouldn't rush to see it again, 5/10, came out of the cinema, looked at the sky, and expected a tornado

X-men 2 - 8.5/10 Still a great film, the opening scene is just brilliant. Cummings steals every scene he's in. I think the only thing that still feels off in this film to me is the lack of blood, Wolverine stabbing and getting stabbed repeatedly without an ounce of blood feels so strange, I wish it had a higher rating.
X-men:The Last Stand - 5/10 I still remember how much of a letdown this film was. It has some good things (Famke Janssen is brilliant and Grammar as Beast was excellent) and some absolutely dreadful things (Jones as Juggernaut is just painful) The plot overall is a little meh, it crams too many mutants in who don't get enough screentime.

Haven't seen this and it's got a lukewarm reception all round. But if you're looking for some classic Costner I watched No Way Out (1987), yesterday. Costner, Hackman and Sean Young.

Tight political thriller, go in completely blind if you haven't seen it. Hits a lot of 80's notes: synth soundtrack with sax solo. Big hair on Sean Young and so on. Good story and not too much faff.

8/10
