What film did you watch last night?

Avatar : The Way Of Water

Entertaining enough and looked very pretty, but I’m wondering why Hollywood thought the original needed a sequel.

5/10
I find them, but particularly the sequel, a massive hit in its own right, bizarre. A huge franchise now, yet nobody ever really sings their praise other than the first one looked great from a technical point of view.

What is it? Another 3 to come?

2 Guns (2013)

Seen it a few times before and it's still a great popcorn movie. Wahlberg and Washington have some great chemistry and the whole thing just works for me.

I'm very surprised they didn't make a sequel.

7/10
I would watch a sequel to this!

Will stick it on my watchlist as I haven't seen it for a couple of years!

Alien (1979)

After seeing the trailer for Alien: Romulus at the cinema the other week, I had a hankering after watching the original again.

After seeing it many times before and considering it's 45 years old, it's still a masterpiece in film making. The only thing that really dates the film is the CRT screens and maybe that most of the characters smoke.

It also looks and sounds fantastic on 4k Blu-ray.

Going to rewatch Aliens on 4k tonight.

10/10
Watched it again tonight.

It's not like I've never noticed the smoking, but I consciously thought when I watched it tonight that there's way too much smoking in this.

In the 70's when it was made, about 40% of people were smokers. Now it's more like 10% of people.

'Mother' has always dated it as well. When you can speak to google on a speaker now and yet they have to go in to a special room and type basic sentences on a keyboard.

@checjb In the case of this film I imagine ignorance is bliss :D. For fun, you could probably pick who’s going to live and who’s going to die before the plane crashes. It’s not a clever film, doesn’t try to be, just something to pass the time.

Something like that. #3 due next year, so at least we don’t have to wait 13 years this time.

In A Violent Nature - 5.5 / 10

In what looks like, and felt, this writer/directors first full length feature film he didn't do too bad a job. The main issue we had was the moody, brooding tension sequences of following the protagonist while he (slowly) walked about after his victims were just too long and monotonous and ended up ruining the tension they were trying to envoke.

But if you like gross out slasher horror then the effects of this one were particularly brutal and well done.
