What film did you watch last night?

Had a full-on cinema day today as bored and nothing to do.

'Lee' - Winslet is good in it, she's good in everything to be fair but the film itself is painfully dull and gynocentric, 5/10.

'Strange Darling' - Man and woman meet up and go on date, serial killer, cat-and-mouse thriller. Enjoyed it 7.5/10

Saw a sneak preview of 'Never let go' too. Totally 'meh' - 5/10.

Once Upon a Time in the West (1968) - Henry Fonda as the bad guy, Charles Bronson as the "good" guy. Not up there with Leone's Eastwood trilogy but still a great film 8/10.

I'd agree with that. It feels a bit disjointed as you're watching it, particularly with it's lengthy run time.

Watched this a few months back and forgot to post in here.

I feel the same way about Once Upon a Time in America. Which they seem to have made worse with lost footage they added back in, for the extended director's cut.

Great film, the opening sequence is magic. But yeah, nothing tops the trilogy for me as fass as Western's go.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes - 6.5/10

A different film to the trilogy before it. It was ok, but it's definitely the weakest out of the new reboots.

Needful Things (1993) 6/10

The recent post about Salems Lot prompted me to look for Stephen King films I've never seen.

Needful Things cropped up. Starring Ed Harris, JT Walsh, and Max von Sydow. Three actors who have starred in some of my favourite films of all time! So, a no brainer to watch.

Not the best King film. The concept and story did keep me hooked. Max von Sydow's part is great but came away thinking, slightly squandered and could've been better.

Little Fish (2020), filmed in 2019 and completely passed me by until I caught a piece of the soundtrack while on break at work the other day.

Cooke & Cook doing that thing called falling in love, while a virus goes round way before it was cool.

This was a hard watch while sat next to my wife. I love her to bits, and imagining what happens in this film being a reality really kicks the dust out of the sofa cushions into the air...

Wolfs (2024)

A similar type of film to Kiss Kiss Bang Bang or The Nice Guys, but both of those films are far better than this effort with Brad Pitt and George Clooney.

It's still watchable, mainly down to the two leads. because they nearly always seem to be no matter how good or bad the film is.

I think part of the problem is when a streaming service is paying for a film's production, there's no longer an incentive for a film to make a profit.

We see it time and time again, when proven writers, directors and actors get handed a large budget and end up producing a mediocre film, when there's no or limited theatrical release of their work.

Look how much The Grey Man cost Netflix and how bang average it turned out to be.

4/10

Think i will watch this tonight, not seen it in years.

Tried to watch Aquaman 2 last night but gave up ~ half way through, just awful.

Somehow ended up with a Aubrey Plaza double bill

Megalopolis 4/10
Things happened, though mostly boring. Pretty mediocre visuals didn't help.

My Old Ass 5.5/10
A light coming of age comedy that was as average as they come.
