What film did you watch last night?

Terrifier 3 (Cinema)

More disgusting murders, this time with a Christmas theme.

It’s bizarre to see something this violent in a cinema. It’s easily the grossest film I’ve seen in that environment.

It continues on the plot from the second film, with a bit more emphasis on laughs, although I think I would have like to have seen the plot advance a bit further.

Yes it’s basically more of the same - some people might tire of these antics - but overall, it might perhaps be the best of the set, or at least the most balanced: the combo of laughs and grizzly thrills was good. Still room to trim the run time though.

If they keep improving the formula and learning from what works and what doesn’t this could be a series that keeps on getting better.

7.5/10

The Exorcism of Emily Rose

It was a good mix of light horror and courtroom drama. I'm surprised Laura Linney wasn't a bigger name in Hollywood, or at least I've not seen much of her.

7/10

Heretic - Pretty good thriller/horror-ish. Heavily centered around beliefs, morals, decision making etc. Hugh Grant was really good as the 'baddie' - 8/10

Juror #2 - Clint Eastwoods latest film, Excellent thriller/drama about a man, who becomes Juror #2 however there is a twist (revealed early on of cours) which makes things interesting and tense. Plays on morals etc. Would you do the right thing even if it hurt you etc . 8/10 as well.

I'm going to try and watch Anora tomorrow!

MaDs. It was mentioned in this thread so I gave it a go. Enjoyable French one shot ‘zombie’ film.

Time Cut. Easy to watch time travel film. Nothing special but I enjoyed it for what it was. Don’t watch if you’re the unique frozen rain drop type who’s easily triggered by non straight people.

Sting

Typical young girl that isn’t getting on with her step dad, whom himself isn’t having a good time, finds a spider and keeps it as a pet the. She feeds it and then it feeds its self and
It gets really big and starts eating people.

Silly monster flick but was something to watch. 5.5/10.

I'm an 80's kid so Reeves as Superman was one of my first idol/hero types
Same here. Born '81 and as a wee kid I used to run around with my hooded towel like it was a cape. Even have the classic S logo tattoo on my wrist. Reeve was my first Superhero/idol too.

I dragged my wife to watch the documentary, but she did actually enjoy it too. I did tear up a few times too. The song loosing both parents in 18 months hot home as I lost my parents in the same time frame a couple of years ago.

8mm (rented on Apple Store)

A ‘played straight’ Nick Cage role where he investigates whether a murder on film was real or staged.

Good set-up and intrigue, nice to see Nick being ‘less wacky’ as well. The last act goes a bit ‘out of character’ and the personal relationship is a bit threadbare. Not bad but could have had more development / screen-time from some of the supporting roles.

The Substance - 8/10

Good god. This was absolutely engrossing. So grotesque I actually had to pause and take a moment a couple of times. It does lose it's way a little bit in the last section but I think overall it is still great.
