What film did you watch last night?

Oblivion - 7.5/10 - Predictable (I predicted one of the twists in the first few minutes) but looked fantastic, well acted and generally just a well made sci-fi if lacking a bit of originality.

Only God Forgives - 2/10 - The 2 was for the fight scene, otherwise terrible, terrible movie. Literally about 4-5 shots last 5 mins each of the camera just focusing on Ryan Gosling. He does the strong silent type well but this was ****.

This is the End - 8/10

People above obviously won't get it but certain parts of this had me in tears. A LOT of the jokes actually touched on quite a few in jokes my friends and I have hence finding it funnier than most.

Pacific Rim 7/10 - Saw it at the cinema and loved it although I definately recognise its glaring flaws. At home I sit 5 feet from a 46" and have 5.1 so it was just as impressive. However, the 2 scientists were so bad and everyone doing an accent thats not their own does grate. Still find the battles awesome (although yea just use the damn sword) although as was said when in cinema would have been nice to have a few day time battles without the rain obscuring everything.

Lone Ranger - 6/10 Know it was slated but found it enjoyable enough, some nice action sequences (you can definately see the budget on the screen) and found the guy playing the Lone Ranger good. Johnny Depp...I knew exactly when he was going to make one of 'his' faces everytime and the dialogue for him was nothing special and exactly as expected. He was serviceable. Liked William Fictner as the bad guy as like him in most things.

Watched Fast and Furious 6 yesterday. 7.5/10 they really hit their stride with this one with the mix of action/driving/comedy. Shame it had the best setup for a sequel of any of them and it probably won't come to pass.

Echo the Great Gatsby comment above, wasn't particularly looking forward to it but really drew me in with some fantastic visuals and soundtrack.

Hackers - 7/10 (even though it's full of crap made up computer stuff, and hacking on an Apple Mac throught the GUI... :D )

"HACK THE PLANET"

The Frighteners - 9/10

Very under rated Box Zemeckis/Michael J Fox film with the help of 'Wingnut' (Peter Jackson - who also appears as a Leather Jacket wearing Rocker) and Love Jeffrey Combs in most things he does!!

Quite Funny in places, Scary in others, Very good story!

Hackers is one of my favourites although it did give me a complete misrepresentation of hacking at the time :p

Frighteners also very good.

The Monuments Men - Didnt expect to enjoy it as much as I did, were some laughs in it. 7/10

I saw that, thought it was fairly average 6/10 but there was one great line, can't remember it exactly but

Damon standing with his foot on a landmine and is asked 'why the **** did you step on a landmine' or something similar, the 'it was a slow day...' reply had me in stiches :D

The Imitation Game 9/10 and The Theory of Everything 8/10.

Found The Imitation Game the better film but both leads were outstanding and not surprised Redmayne won the Oscar as he was unrecognisable in the later stages. Cumberbatch brilliant as usual but not quite as much of a transformation. I did feel the Theory of Everything had the potential to have the viewpoints a bit biased in places simply as it focused on their marriage but still very good.

I love the idea of movies like Pacific Rim but think it gets a 7 at best. I don't see how people can rate it a 9 just because its a movie about robots vs monsters and is supposed to be stupid, if it didn't have the scientists that's a +1 from me, if it had daylight battles another +1. The idea was great but the execution could have been better in places.

Back in Time (Back to the future documentary 30 years on) 7/10

Great little documentary about the BTTF trilogy, with the actors and props and behind the scenes look, BTTF trilogy is probably my favourite films of all time, absolute masterpiece.
Michael J Fox interviews were heartbreaking to watch him slurring and jittering about due to his parkinsons :(

I saw this. Very good and as mentioned heartbreaking. I did feel they were clutching a bit at a few of the stories being BTTF related but it was all nicely done.

I always felt QoS was decent if watched immediately after Casino Royale like a continuation but doesn't stand up on it's own.

Watched Man From U.N.C.L.E - 8/10

Reviews weren't brilliant but I really enjoyed it, not a huge amount of substance but went at a brisk pace and a decent mix of humour and seriousness. Cavill was good but thought Hammer stole the show.

Ray (2004) - 9/10 Loved it, forgot how much I enjoyed Ray Charles music. Foxx's performance was fantastic. A few slightly corny lines slightly detracted but probably my 2nd favourite musical biopic after Almost Famous :D

The Doors (1991) - 6.5/10 Val Kilmer was great and I like some of their music but gruelling to watch. Jim Morrison spiralled very quickly and most of the film is spent watching him act like a complete **** to the people closest to him, you do really just watch him hammered/drugged to heaven and spouting philosophical rubbish for over an hour. Not necessarily a fault of the film but his story didn't make for the most entertaining movie.

Vampire (2011) 6/10 - Ran out of films to watch and this looked odd enough to be worth a punt. Imdb score seems fairly spot on. Guy has a compulsive desire to drink human blood and targets suicidal people as victims. It has some interesting ideas and definitely requires paying attention but it meanders and is unsatisfying by the end I thought.

Neighbours 2: Sorority Rising

8/10 - Was laughing out loud to myself which doesn't usually happen. Remember seeing the first one and thinking it was better than it should have been but this was generally funny, sweet and well put together. Have to say would like to see a comedy with Zac Efron and Channing Tatum now, 2 stereotyped guys who have fantastic comedic timing and play off their stereotypes.

Watched Keanu last night with some friends - 6.5/10

Some genuinely funny bits but some of the fake black speak did wear a bit thin by the end. Enjoyed the George Michael theme :p
Will Forte half eaten by a Python had me and my mates in absolute horror and hysterics - Best scene of the film

And just now Central Intelligence - 7/10

Was supposed to be much worse and just stuck it on for easy watching but was chuckling throughout, cliched and predictable but Dwayne Johnson is comedically gifted and played well off his co-star.
