Whats been the most disappointing game to you?

Doom 3 for me too. The originals were just superb and why they couldn't stick to the original concept with awesome graphics i'll never know.

X3. not because its a bad game. the visuals are lovely, it runs well on my system..

its just frustratingly slow to get the ball rolling to earn money! maybe im just impatient, but i gave up after 3 hours of play when my ship got blown up by cops for ferrying space fuel to different selling points! argh.. yet i still come back to install it and try again..

Don't get me wrong it's still a very good game, but it just doesn't quite carry on the legacy of Morrowind.

Most disappointing games in my collection are Heroes of Might and Magic IV & V  I love Heroes III to pieces but was extremely disappointed with the 2 sequals :(

I have been very picky with the games I have bought, as a rule of thumb I would never buy a game without reading a review in a mag. Having saying that I have broken my rule and bought a couple of stinkers:( Heroes of Might & Magic.

The following games let me down

Doom 3
Quake 4
Frontier Elite
Frontier First Encounters
Zelda for the wii

loads more which i cant remember.

The two games that stand out for me are:

Rainbow 6: Lockdown - Terrible have never seen an official forum with so many complaints and angry fans. Thank god they got it back on track with Vegas.

Deus Ex "2" - Sequel to one of the greatest games of all time. Developers didn't understand what made the original so fun. This is the game that made me hate the word "streamlining" :).

would agree with most people on Deus Ex 2 - compared to the original it sucked, however I still enjoyed playing it, so I was not disappointed.

The most disappointing game I have ever played is Oblivion. Really hyped over this one. Bought it on release day, installed, was blown away for the first few hours of play. Went into work singing its praises and was told by mate there about the auto-levelling....... from then on, really; what was the point. Struggled with it for a while but the game just felt broken and empty after that.

Have uninstalled and never really wanted to reinstall.

Really hope that Bethesda don't do auto-levelling for Fallout 3.

i found stalker very dissapointing, just didn't live up to the hype at all

I also found oblivion very dissapointing as morrowing was/is one of my all time favourite games, and is still a far better game than oblivion, I did however restart oblivion recently with a few mods and the mod team have done a very good job, it now feels and plays like a morrowind sequel

Enemy Territory : Quake wars - this literally broke my little heart. After many many many months of reading up on it, watching videos, posting on the official forums, downloaded the beta - cancelled pre-order, bought myself an xbox 360 in stead.

Doom 3 also really let me down big time

If your done with your Beta key you could always donate it to Jaffa Cake here so he can redistribute it: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17748690&goto=newpost

C&C3, its utter bobbins.
Played most of the NOD campaign and hated almost every mission.

Crap control, crap story. Horde up all of your resources and then nuke.
It's like levelling a NE druid in normal world and taking it through deadmines :(.

Wouldn't be my most disappointing game if I could be bothered to really think about it, but it is the first game that springs to mind. Played it a few times and I really just don't like it. Sitting on my shelf collecting dust right now.

People who knew about this series all basically agree Oblivion was poor compared to Morrowind! Like myself, i think for a lot of people though, Oblivion was there first from that particular series. Thats why they found it amazing.

I mean, the only reason i bought it was due to the immense publicity it had on IGN. They had a proper countdown and everything for every day with a special video.

Still a great game in my opinion... :)

For me, biggest disappointment was KOTOR2.

Closely followed by M2TW

The reason, in both cases, is failure to meet the high standards of great predecessors (KOTOR and RTW respectively).

I'm now used to games not living up to pre-launch hype and to to the expectations set by unrealistically friendly reviews.

The biggest disappointments for me are when the sequel to a game I have really enjoyed is rushed or just plain botched.

Morrowind has more Soul and depth (even though it had tons of fedex quests). The cities were just so different e.g. Vivec :D with its architecture and different layers and then there was that dust city out in the plains (cant remember the name but theres always a raging dust storm around it) Utterly brilliant :D Sooo much atmosphere.

Did you guys play the same Unreal 2 I played???

IMHO it was fantastic, certainly more memorable than the original. Everything about it was top notch and very polished.

After wasting 5 days waiting for it, 30 mins to install it, 2 hours to update it, 5 minutes to play it and then 1 second to uninstall it. LORD OF THE RINGS ONLINE, what a pile of codge.

Can't believe I forgot this one..........NWN2. Me and the missus played NWN1 co-op and loved it, so we couldn't wait for NWN2. We rushed out on the morning of release and bought two copies.....silly us. What a complete pile of turd. I can't even remember the huge list of problems (I've banished it from my mind...) but I do remember the camera system making me want to punch things. We both hated the whole experience and uninstalled after giving it a few hours.

Oh, and another one - B&W2. The first one was soooo much better, despite its flaws.

Single player:

Unreal 2 and half life 2, as their predecessors have to be 2 of my all time favourite games.. unreals atmosphere, music, storyline (the way you could follow it in your translator..) unreal 2... i really cant remember it, i dont think it was awefull, just a complete disapointment from the original.

Less so for half life, i thought it kept with the original a bit more, and added a few new things, but it became a bit samey... and i still to this day havent completed it, nor felt compelled to get episode 1...

Multiplayer:

Quake 2.. aweful, just aweful.. (the single player game was awesome for its time though...) at least the multiplayer picked up in quake 3, which (i feel) has helped qet quake further into the mainstream pro gaming community.. quake 4's multiplayer was a bit of a let down, but after the patches fixing the physics, much better, much more like q3 now :)

oh and last of all... wtf was tiberian sun all about??? what a load of old [insert obscenities here]
