Who here owns a Fiesta ST?

Got a K&N and flexi pipe fitted today, along with a full service inc discs and pads, and damn it's almost like a new car, so much more get up and go. And that sound is going to get very addictive... :p

Considering I said I was never ever going to mod it, it's only taken me like 3 months! Not doing anything else to it. But am thinking it could do with lowering...

So I'm guessing this Mountune is the stuff to go for.

I still have £1600 left after buying my car and was gonna use some of this to buy an exhaust a flexi and a filter.

Can I get something from Mountune fitted for £1600 and is there anywhere in the northwest I can go to get fitted.

Some Ford approved garages do Mountune stuff I believe. Only buy a flexi if you don't plan on upgrading to a manifold later.

I went to evans halshaw blackpool for mine, £1650 fitted. Great guys up there, ask to speak to the service manager Simon. You will not regret getting it.

I went from the 165 kit :D

I've just been out and about playing with this car, nearly got through a full tank of fuel now so I can give it some abuse. I've discovered the joys of 5.5k rpm and above, oh my. ;) The noise the inlet makes is immense, can't get over it, certainly turns a lot of heads!

I always assumed that to get the Mountune 200 kit you had to get everything by them (CAIS, exhaust system, inlet, cams etc) Just I have a Milltek system and a k&n, and thought getting a Mountune inlet wouldn't be possible but one of the lads who goes to our meets has the MR200 kit but with a piper system. I've been looking at inlets but wasn't keen on the torque issues with a Cosworth inlet fitted hence thinking about Mountune. Another option is Auto Specalist's own.

Can anyone clarify things for me please?

You can buy the Mountune inlet seperately via their online store, but you don't get the Mountune map or the 60mm throttle body. Some people have gone down this route, but some have had problems getting the inlet mapped correctly.

You can only get the Mountune map by getting the MR200 kit, either by coming from the 165/185 kit or by starting off with the Mountune cat back and CAIS and then progressing onto one of the kits.

I believe the Auto Specialists is based on the Cosworth inlet design, which was originally designed around the 2.3 duratec engine, so you do get torque issues. The Mountune inlet has been designed from the ground up around the 2.0 engine.

I assume they don't offer maps when just buying the inlet because all the parts will be mismatched? A lot of money to pay for it not to work correctly (double the price of AS's one). I'll have to ask when I next see him where he got his mountune inlet mapped. Is a 60mm throttle body needed to fit a custom made inlet?

Guess that leaves me with AS's or Cosworth and just having to deal with the torque issues.

Yeah, the map they offer is designed around the exhaust, induction kit, cams etc so they don't offer it for anything else. I believe the inlets do work with the smaller throttle bodies, but most people generally fit the larger one to get as much air flow as possible.

Not read too much into the Cosworth inlets, so I'm not sure how good they are. I know someone who has one though and he seems happy enough with his.

Been reading up on the cossie inlet and the feedback I got was to only get one if you were planning on super charging (which I'm not).

With my milltek cat back, manifold, and k&n what am I likely to be running? (not mapped) Supposed to be going on a rolling road this weekend but it might get cancelled due to lack of numbers.

To get to 200BHP, what other mods am I looking at? Sports cat, cams, inlet?

Any of you fit axle spacers yourself? I've seen a 'how to' on how to do it but not sure I feel confident getting the bolts the right length and being so close to the ABS sensor. Does £60 to fit them sound reasonable?

The place I'm booked into will know what they are doing (it's not like I'm asking an independent mechanic to fit them whose never done it before) but they aren't the cheapest hence charging me £60 for the job. Other than asking the independent mechanic who fit my exhaust to fit them, I don't know where else I could go.

Need to decide what to do really so I can cancel my appointment with them tomorrow if necessary.

Thinking about buying a set of mk6.5 headlights second hand to split and spray for my car. I could just do the ones that are already on there but scared I'm going to do something wrong and end up without headlights :D

Has anyone done it here have some tips? Friend of mine has a heat gun I can borrow to split them, is it a case of warming up the existing seal then pulling it apart, then reassemble with Tiger Seal or similar?

Was thinking black lights and doing the chrome bits Moondust Silver....

Shaun - you've got it spot on with the headlights, they are very difficult to split without cracking due to the size and shape. Take your time and hope for the best!

I had a pair of second hand painted headlights, with black inners and black reflector rings, they looked awesome when fitted, really toughened up the look of the car more than you'd think, but they started to leak water and I cracked them trying to split and reseal them :(

I needed to get my car back on the road then so I got some standard lights, de-tangoed them, and went back to those. I'd like to have painted ones again though if I could do them neatly!
