1366 X58 Xeon 5650

Had anyone tried the Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R rev 1 board with these chips?
I have one running a i930 and would be interested in upgrading to a X5570 but am unable to find if my board will run these. Gigabyte site does not list these Xeons as compatible.

Does it list the 980/990x ?

Or the 970?

If it does there's a good chance it will work :)

Interesting can you email me the bios please ?

Hi mate, the bios is on the asus site:

http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/socket1366/P6T_WS_PRO/BIOS/P6T-WS-ASUS-PRO-1205.zip

Then you need afudos229es

http://forums.extremeoverclocking.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=168923&d=1383494180

The dos command to flash is:
afudos /iP6T-WS-ASUS-PRO-1205.ROM /pbnc /n

Settings I'm using:

Everything else memory timing wise is auto. Touch wood it's still cold booting fine, now I just need to invest in some decent cooling!

Can anyone help with a problem please.

I've clocked my x5650 to 4.1ghz at 1.28 vcore but when using HWmonitor during gaming i am seeing the voltage spike up to 1.7 volts. It doesn't do this in IBT or Prime95, it only goes up to 1.303 volts and is stable for 5hrs.

Can this be right and if so how do i set my cpu voltage to not go over a certain voltage? i have manually set the voltage 1.28 so there must be some other setting that is auto changing the voltage.

Help!
:)

See what CPUz reports instead.

Pretty good volts :)

Cheers mate, I'm still cooler shopping but I'm limited to a height of 16cm and I've not had good experiences with the last two aio's I had, h55 and h80. Considering sacking the case offl, it's shockingly bad for cooler options unless I get creative with the dremel and move the hdd cage back a few cm so I can get a 240mm rad in there. Corsair Carbide Series SPEC-01 wtf was I thinking, oh yeah £38 haha

I've heard nothing but bad of Corsair's lower priced products. My lady and I both got Raptor mice for £16 each. Mine lasted about a week, then the scroll wheel stopped working and just jerked the web page. A month in hers snapped off at the USB socket.

Must say it's put me off for life tbh. My mate had a 01 and said it was utterly lousy for managing cables.

Gotta admit I don't have any working corsair products.............all the H series all in one water coolers pumps broke on H60 H80 H90 I think were the numbers. Corsair usb stick is the only one that no longer works for no apparent reason. The other cheap ones work ok still. Corsair Ram is the only stuff I've ever had to RMA and that was the super fast DDR2 stuff that was £400 for a pair........My corsair HX1000 exploded with smoke and tripped the power too and took out a gpu.

I've not had any other hardware fail in 15 years only corsair. Actually thats a lie the maxtor diamondmax 9s were rubbish.

cheers but i cant find a way for cpuz to log the highest cpu voltage while i'm playing, it only seems to show the current value. The voltage spikes happen at random. ive tried the "save report" option but it only gives me the current value too. any ideas?

cheers

It is awful for cables, the stupid thing is it's got cut-outs for all the cables but no room between the side panel and the motherboard tray, it's so tight that once you get just the atx power cable there it starts bulging as your mate no doubt discovered. Theres even a cutout for the p4 power but it surfaces beneath the motherboard right next to a standoff  I'm sure I read somewhere recently that it's a budget manufacturers case rebadged.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand, I've sorted my temp issues with the use of some 1500 and 200 grit sand paper, I think the cpu ihs was concave because the temps have decreased massively from 84c to 71c under intel burn and when sanding the centre of the ihs remained nickel until last.

Now can anyone tell me why running standard instead of max on ibt gives me higher tempratures?
