CoolIT Systems - 240mm ECO info

I think it's been delayed, looking on the coolIT forums and one of the mods said next week.

Barry seems to have disappeared from here :s

Hey Guys - haven't disappeared, was just 1. waiting for an update from my product manager and 2. working on my truck all weekend :/

I spoke to the PM this morning and he indicated he would be getting the tests finalized today so you can expect me to post the results this week.

As a little bit of forshadowing, when comparing a 240mm to a 120mm you should not expect the 240 to be twice the price nor should you expect it to be twice the performance. I am hoping it will be able to accomodate 4.0Ghz @ 5 - 10 degrees cooler than the 120mm version and/or be able to handle 4.2 Ghz at the same or slightly higher temps. Of course... all depending on the vcore / overclocker :)

I'll stay on him and have the results up asap.

Cheers,

Barry

Is there going to be the possibility of mounting fans on both sides of the radiator, do you expect a performance increase from using 4 fans on the rad?

Knew about this one yonks ago thanks to CoolIT tech support/sales....
It was explained though that it's a custom job, & so will prolly be much more than the standard Eco.
Apparently it'll be the same except for rad (not sure if it's thicker too, doubt it) and tubing length.

If it's close to double the price, for a performance improvement % that isn't anywhere near that.
Then it becomes much harder to justify over putting together a custom loop.

Lets wait and so though I guess.....

I hope it wallops Asetek's LCLC 240mm (& by-proxy the Siberian) though...
Those rude fracks have never responded to any email queries I've sent to them for almost 3mth now!
They think because they don't (typically) delve into the retail sector, that they don't have to respond.
Rude fracks......

Hi Everyone,

This is Barry w/ CoolIT Systems. I've been getting quite a few requests for a 240mm version of ECO and am pleased to let you know that we have one in the works for you all.

I just wanted to get a little thread going on here to get a feel for

1. who is interested
2. who of the people who are interested have a chassis that one would fit in (you need 2 x 120mm fans side by side in roof ideally)
3. your price, performance and acoustic expectations

I think there is a real need for this for system builders so we'll be going ahead regardless but we want to make it clear that we are listening to the needs of the market so if you ever wanted a chance to offer some feedback to a manufacturer before everything is finalized... this is it.

Cheers,

Barry

I'm interested. I have a corsair 800d so it should fit. Price under £100. Performance better then stock gpu coolers, quiet as possible please:)

Yep should be possible. Performance gains will exist but I doubt they will be massive as rad is designed for low CFM. Few degrees for sure though... I'll ping the PM now and make sure that is added to the test plan.

Same guy is also the PM for our upcoming VANTAGE cooler so he is kinda slow atm :/

What is THE best air cooler at the moment? Thermalright venomous x?

if so, barry can you do a comparison with that?

i'm hoping the 240mm eco beats even the best air coolers by a good amount while keeping noise low.

or am i expecting too much here?

Yeah the D14 is definitely amongst the top 5...
Last time I did lotsa research about HSF's, the VX had dropped a fair way from the top.
It's still definitely in the top 10 though I reckon, maybe even the top 5, just.

Eco 240mm would definitely be up there with the very best HSF's I reckon.
I'd be surprised if it wasn't, I personally wanna see it smash the LCLC 240mm :)

I've been looking at making a custom loop or my CPU but I've been put off by the cost involved. If this is priced right and offers decent performance, I'll surely consider it :)

Also as long as it fits in my Antec 1200 I can offer to help in testing if you wish :)

Custom water is'nt expensive if you shop around, i use the below

Pa 120.2, single bay res/pump combo, EK supreme LT, 1/2" barbs, 7/16" tubing, and that cost me just under £100 all new. Just takes shoping around for the best bargins.

Yep should be possible. Performance gains will exist but I doubt they will be massive as rad is designed for low CFM.

Low cfm and high rpm fans for like 30mm rads, or low cfm and low rpm fans for 50mm+ rads.

Either way its nice to see you guys doing this, as i know a lot want the benifits of watercooling but without the headaches, so hats off to you guys for trying to bring an updated version to market.

Nope, I was told by sales that it's the same.
Unless that's now changed....
