Thanks for the stats Rich :)

It's been a good week's crunching for Team 10. I'm gradually pulling my output up again after a large fall a few weeks ago. I've now got an XP2500 Barton (waiting to be clocked) and I'm hoping to get a 3GHz Intel with HT going in a month or so.

I am, however, moving house in a week or so, which will dent my production a fair bit :(

Rich, please take the ohio psycho off the single crunchers list. I've been doing some more experimenting and I'll be moving on to different machines. :)

It's been a great week folks. The competition has been a lot of fun. Keep it up. :D
I used your production from CSO2_Clever_Nickname for this week, I'll take you off the list for next week if that's ok? :)
We can't have Conc having a decent case for being called No.1 this week can we? :D

Bah i had to start folding on the day of the news :p Makes my 56 pointer look pants.

Good work again Rich

Btw, you'll need to change my name colour in the single crunchers list to grey ;)

Rubbish all round from me. I think i might try putting the pc under my desk and see how that affects the noise...

Great progress from the team though. We've reached our milestone of 150 active cruchers and i'm hoping there will be enough new members next week to make up for the end of the competition.

Next milestone: 50,000 average ppd :D
Currently at 43,000.

Edit: Just trying a new sig...

Edit2: I'm adding another folding myth to the quick guide, which popped up during a thread earlier:

11: It will stress my pc and cause parts to fail prematurely

Well its a folding myth. ;)

My proposed answer:

11. It will stress my pc and cause parts to fail prematurely.
Your pc might last 15 years if you don't run folding, 10 if you do. It will be useless due to advances in technology in about 5.

Any suggestions for improvements to that?
I think i do need to mention that it won't reduce the life half as much as overclocking, and if well designed and maintained should not go wrong regardless of cpu load. However it is a fact that full cpu load all the time will reduce the cpu life by a small amount. Of course its useless decades before it dies of old age, but this was argued by someone today when i suggested they join up.

Its also been added to the proposed folding poll btw.

But you have a 3700  Or are you using a diff pc for folding?

Yep, got a secret weapon under my bed.. P3 powah  I was on the single list before anyway, because the output of the P3 was so insignificant that it didnt make much difference :p

Actually, there is some truth to that one. If your PC is poorly designed, poorly built, or on the edge of failure for other reasons, then running a CPU at 100% for extended periods can cause at least instability. Also, there's some debate when it comes to things like hard disks - spinning them up and down regularly isn't good, but even when running them continuously motors/bearings do wear out. The same goes for fans.

The latter point is very well demonstrated by my RAID array, where all four disks ran almost 24/7 at 40-45C for two years. None have failed, but all four are now somewhat noisy. To that end, two have been replaced and the other two will follow when I can afford.

Therefore it's misleading to say it's a myth, but for a well-built PC it's unlikely.

Not a bad week all round.

Managed to top the slugfest at the end of week 1 with my new best buddy the X2 3800  (as CSO2_Welshiskysucks - second in the top stompers list :D).

Also managed no.7 in the top dumpers (and 32nd with CSO2_Welshwhiskysucks) despite not having the above included (nearly 3000 points) and most of the output from the lappy due to not being able to connect by dial-up  (don't worry, she's been crunching deadlineless WUs most of the week and will be dumping about 600-700 when I get home on Sunday :p)

A good week for team 10 - thanks to all the new members for their input, the existing members for their continued support and as always, to Rich for the excellent news :)

Edit - fao Benjo: The top dumpers are the people who have "dumped" the most points for the week.
