No legal recourse to me means acceptable and well within their rights. Nothing you can do about it.
New neighbours get their Sainsbury's delivery at 7am every Saturday morning... argh!

Oh yeah, I agree. Well within their rights anyway. Same as playing your stereo at full blast at 10:59pm. It's not very nice for everyone though is it? It's literally on the cusp of being legally anti-social.
Sainsbury's really shouldn't be offering slots that early to residential areas.
If I was the OP, I'd be complaining to them and telling them I was keeping a record of the time. I wouldn't bother with the neighbour.

Problem is that if they limited slots to between 9am and 9pm, there wouldn’t be enough to go round.

What noise? A van door opening and someone moving a few crates of shopping about? Where do all you people live where you would even notice this? I live in the countryside and it wouldn’t even register.

Pretty much right imo. Examples of parties or gaming is not the same as a mere supermarket delivery.

legally, nobody is supposed to be intentionally making a stationary noise between 11pm and 7am above 24db or if the background noise is above 24db, then no louder than +10db. 20db is about as loud as rustling leaves.
a conversation is around 40-50db.
It's not like they are chainsawing at 4am.
If someone's asked me to change my 7am slot (I'd never get up for shopping that early) I'd probably change it to 6am!
Chainsawing at 4am is fine. I work nights so it wouldn't bother me. Its ok to have that attitude isn't it??

I'd imagine that you may be irritated if your neighbours had loud music/parties whick kept your kids awake each weekend until 22:59.
Acceptable and well within their rights though given there is no legal recourse.
In reality, these arguments are never resolved because it comes down to people having to compromise which not many people do these days unless their compromise is less than the other party has to compromise so they see it as a win.
I used to have a neighour next door. I would get the dogs in the car to take them for a walk at 0530 every morning. One day my fat ugly neighbour comes out in her 4XL dressing gown kicking off we were waking the whole street up and peoples kids by banging our car doors shut. Started taking them at 0500 after that. The clowns moved out shortly after that

I can get up early for work if need be, but I've never in my life been asleep before midnight consistently. Aside from a 3 month work contract once where I was just collapsing exhausted.
I'm the same, and I accept that there's noise outside after 10, considering I'm pretty central in Newcastle.
Everyone should accept reasonable noise, at reasonable hours. Especially when it isn't recurrent and caused by the same person. Stereos at 11pm fine. so long as it's an exception. There's a pub down the road from me that does outside events. They go on until 10pm. Fine. It's not every week. I am often woken by sit on mowers etc at 7pm by contractors etc. It's not every day and it's not the same day every week.
I don't think the same noise being caused by the same parties at 7am weekly is reasonable at all. I think that's right on the edge of being legal, never mind reasonable.

No letterbox post? It really is a different experience being in here compared to GD.
Whilst there is at 6:59am if they're any louder than the trees. Which is why I suggested to the OP, if it really is troublesome, to tell Sainsbury's to deliver somewhere else first in future.

Pretty much.
They do 1 hour and 4 hour slots, complain to Sainsburys and they will just have the driver switch up his route slightly, he will still turn up before 8 but hey if it means that much to the op.
Telling your neighbour what they can and can't do after being in the place for 4 weeks would be a right laugh to watch though, so if you do try and get it on video.
