*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

Sounds like PvP is pretty good then, might have to have a go of it with TDR when I get back. Too engrossed in the story at the moment - on Tatooine and I was only planning on doing the class quests, but I have somehow ended up doing ever quest again, in a similar fashion to Balmorra. The only place I didn't like and skipped most of the quests was Nar Shaddaa - then again, because I have done so many flashpoints with TDR, I had hugely outlevelled the place.

Definitely want to do a few more flashpoints with TDR when I get back! I love those things :p

I was levelling my crafting and still had my speeder at Level 25 - pretty much as soon as I hit 25 as well.

I was cleared out though. :)

Same here, seems to be the norm tbh.

Have any of you been using the trade center much - pretty easy credits if you sell the right gear. Something I haven't dabbled in too much, but when I have I have made a killing on there.

sold a few things so far, decent blues i've made, some purples i've had drop etc. nice money really, i'm hoping i'll have enough sitting in my mailbox to buy my riding skill when i get home from work. i know i bought a guild but i'm about 10k behind the rest of the people i know at level 25 for some reason

For some crazy reason I sold most of my purples obtained from flashpoints to a vendor

On my main i just took gathering skills, slicing at 400 more than pays for the other two. Usually the companions will come back with a box containing 3 to 6k each plus the odd schematic, it costs about 2k to send them. So anywhere between 3k to 15k profit every half an hour just from sending them out while i do other things.

Before I worked out crafting and settled with biochem, I had slicing and treasure hunting - both bring back some very good stuff. Biochem has proven useful, but I still miss the goodies that slicing and treasure hunting provided. Which other gathering skills did you take?

RIZZEE - OcUK have PvE and PvP guilds if you are interested. See the first couple of posts in the thread for details :)

I have artifice, treasure hunting and archaeology, do you think they're bad choices?

I think what most people have tbh. Not bad choices at all. While I find biochem useful, diplomacy is useless and bioanalysis just adequate to provide crafting mats. Neither of them ever seem to bring back any goodies unlike treasure hunting, slicing etc.

no..;)

Here is what the lead Devs have recently said on the offical forums.

AVOID THESE SERVERS

The Harbinger--US West Coast--PVE
The Swiftsure--US West Coast--PVP
The Fatman--US East Coast--PVP
Bloodworthy--EU English--PVP
Frostclaw--EU English--PVE
Legions of Lettow--EU English--PVP
The Red Eclipse--EU English--PVE
Tomb of Freedom Nadd--EU English--PVP
Darth Revan's Mask--EU German--PVP
Darth Traya--EU German--PVP
Jar'Kai Sword--EU German--PVP
Hrakert Rift--EU French--PVP

YES!

OcUKers interested in the TDR guild can join. They just don't want random new players joining.

If Bioware can't handle this, then it is their problem to sort, since they were the ones who originally placed our guild onto Frostclaw.

Plus, the queue has gone away anyway :)

Martini1991 - it seems to be the way. Whilst beta was reasonably balanced, there does seem to be a heavy weighting of Imperials now.

Well for today anyway. Some reason I literally have no money, and all my missions leave me dead as soon as I face an enemy :o But somehow Qyzen manages to stay alive

What are you playing as? Are you doing quests designed for your level? I think it is pretty standard to not have much money for a long time :p

So is there an Ocuk guild? I see people mentioning a few, I just want a friendly bunch to play with.

Ok guys, just got this. Newbie mmo player here. Never played warcraft Altho played galaxies for a couple of months. Any suggestions of which server to join? Would be good to join an ocuk guild filling to help me learn the ropes haha

See first post of the thread :)

We have a few :D

This, really.

I think people are jumping on the hate wagon a little too quickly, personally. All the WoW comparisons being thrown about are also a little unfair. WoW has been around for 6 years, so it has a huge head start.

I'm personally going to enjoy the story in this game, and hope they address people's issues with regards to the MMO stuff, etc. in the coming months.

There are always a core group of gamers that jump on the hate wagon for any game - I ignore them (i.e. avoid the official forums for the first few months) and enjoy it for what it is.

I personally think TOR is an excellent game tbh - haven't had this much fun for a long time, and at the end of the day that is all that matters.

And I compared it to swg and despite being 10 years older was about 10 years ahead in most areas. Other than story.

It all seems story based, which gets a little dull and end up hitting space bar constantly.

I haven't hit the spacebar once :p

I like the story, the usual MMO grind has been hidden incredibly well.

I wouldn't play the game just for the combat. Maybe thats why other mmo's have never interested me I suppose.

Agreed, I think the story is one of the things that has me so engrossed at the moment. Can't wait to play alts. The great thing is, the group content is a lot of fun (especially the flashpoints), but it isn't even essential - so you can pretty much do your own thing, which I like :)

There are definitely areas that need more work, but it is a good game as it stands now, and is also in much better shape than most MMOs at this stage of release.

I would disagree its in a better shap,it's like a single player, when you get to the end that's it, what is there to do once you reach level 50. The fact people have already reached level 50 shows how short the game is.

EVERY MMO always has a group of players that exploit it or play non-stop to reach level 50. After that there is everything you would expect for a new MMO. Such a boring discussion, it happens with every MMO.

Where has all the dislike come from all of a sudden? People couldn't get enough of it a couple of days ago before i went away - what has changed?

So this game is seriously just a single player, kind of knights of the old republic 3? With some light co-op stuff thrown in? D:

More like KOTOR3,4,5+6 tbh. I have actually been surprised at how much multiplayer there has been - it felt much more single player in beta. I also don't get why people think it is not "massively"?

It is in a decent state now, and has a huge development team behind it. At this point in time, it is still better than the majority of matured MMOs out there tbh. WoW is just a silly comparison, it has been around for years and had much greater problems at launch.

most you cant have played many mmos especially at launch.

its the least complete mmo in the last 12years, without the story its barely a game, i dont know why people rate it as an mmo because it has a story... they might aswell have just released it as a single player game and had the pvp and major cities like guildwars.

guild is a chat room at launch? LOLWTF...
no loot rolling LOLWTF?
they obviously forgot they were making an mmo , most of the core stuff isnt even here

arknor, you have clearly played even fewer MMOs than most then, because TOR is not even close to being the least complete - try Champions Online, Star Trek Online, APB...the list goes on and on. Most of your recent posts in this thread reveal how naive you actually are when it comes to MMOs tbh.

Tummy seems to have presented one of the most fair and balanced responses to TOR tbh.

Keep it civil please gents.

This tbh ^^. Cheers Thundy, it is a shame you had to come in here to settle things down.

It is an MMO, and as with MMOs we always have strong differing opinions. There is no need for heated or personal insults. Lets not become like the official forums ;)

Lets just get back to talking about the game in a mature way, organising the guilds, groups etc and have some Christmas fun :)

I personally have subbed for 6 months as I am a big Star Wars fan, am loving the story, have no current MMO in my life and am enjoying being a part of the OcUK guilds. Frostclaw has also been a surprisingly friendly server. After the 6 months, we will see how things go :)

which class are you playing again rave and how are you finding it? somethings saying sith juggernaut but not sure :P

Sith Juggernaut :) - really liking the build. Great survivability (especially with biochem) and there don't seem to be many tanks around anyway. Using the immortal build on the official forums (dont have a link to hand).

It seems you get flamed if you like the game now. I do agree its not quite as 'open' as I hoped but its nicely polished with a story I actually followed. It also fits in with a busy life, I don't care for these power level whiners. A normal life makes this go at a nice pace.

How things have changed! Most of what wab and I said during beta we got flamed for (especially the single player feeling). Now the people who flamed us are saying EXACTLY the same thing :p - I am actually enjoying it a lot more than the beta experience. Each to their own :)

what realm for Empire OCUKers?

Frostclaw for PvE - see 1st/2nd post :)

Dropped Underpants Trading for Slicing to see what the fuss is about... and I'm not seeing anything stupidly over the top? I mean missions for lock boxes take 30+ mins and they'll come back with about 3k - 8k, and the mission itself cost about 1.7k.

I have biochem, bioanalysis and diplomacy - diplomacy seems completely useless tbh, so will probably swap for slicing when I get online tomorrow evening. Like G-Man says, while that isn't the millions that some have claimed, it still works out at free credits and more than most other methods of acquiring them in the game.

Its understandable they cant fix the all the bugs but the ones I was saying about companions and especially the dismount on speeders should be very high priority. They are main features in the game that are constantly being used so should be fixed immediately considering you pay a monthly fee for the game!

These bugs will be fixed VERY quickly. Rather than them patching every few days and taking the servers down, I am expecting a very large patch in the near future.

I find it especially annoying when in a big fight e.g. tanking a world boss, and my companions come back with a report from their crew skill adventures. Really distracting!
