Citylink without a doubt, I have avoided using OCUK at times even if I have to spend an extra couple of quid elsewhere just because the unmentionable company uses citylink and not amtrak. I used to work for amtrak and believe me I would never want them delivering my parcels.
 
If there was a "don't mind" option, I'd go for it. I've used both quite a bit, and which provides the best service seems to depend on where you are. I suspect that a good local depot manager that picks good staff and controls then well provides a good service, regardless of company.

Whoever you use, Spie, you're going to get problems and complaints. So, so far at least, statistics would suggest City link.
 
Witht he computer comapny I used to work with we had this misfortune of using citylink. It was unbelievable the amount of stuff that went missing. We ended up having to wrap all boxes in brown paper (especially TFT monitors). Plus a lot of stuff got badly damaged in transit.

I realise no company is perfect, its just my experiance from another computer firm.
 
Never had any problems with city link at all, always great couriers from what ive used them for anyway. Ive only used Amtrak once and they were late deliverying the parcel and werent very friendly on the phone to me either. Ive heard one or two bad stories regarding Amtrak and their timekeeping.

I am a bit (well, totally) annoyed with parcelline at the moment, a parcel was given to them last weds on their "24hr" delivery option and its still not arrived :mad: ive called my local depo at derby and they havent got it there and the driver hasnt been anywhere near my address recently. Its not as if its a cheap item either :mad:

Sorry to go OT but i need to rant about it.
 
A vote for City Link from me.

I've had deliveries from both several times. They both tend to arrive about 9am in my area so no problems there. They always find my house, never had a problem with a parcel not arriving etc.

They have both however on one occasion mis-sorted the parcel and therefore delayed deliveries to me. Amtrack were of no help at all, pretty much saying it was tough and that I'd have to wait until it was sorted, which took a couple of days after the original delivery date.

City Link on the other hand were meant to deliver on the Friday. It didn't turn up so I called both my local depot, and then the depot it had been mistakenly sent to, and between them they arranged to get it to me for 8:30 on the Saturday morning at no extra expense to me. Great service in that instance... things do go wrong, it's how the company treats it's customers in these scenarios that matter.

ordered twice from ocuk, both times i had to phone up amtrak to sort it out, bunch of useless ****!

Citylink on the other hand, get to my house bang on mid day without fail, every time! which means i dont have to get out of bed at 8am to get my parcel if it does get here at all. means that if i'm out i know when i have to be home to get the parcel.

much friendlier service aswell :)

Had major MAJOR problems returning an item to overclockers through Amtrak, whether it was overclockers or Amtrak i don't know, but i'll lay the blame with Amtrak :P
 
Simple really - City Link Rule and it would mean that you could finally drop your horrific postage costs as City Link are cheaper! Also, City Link notorioulsy deliever well within their time scales and usaully before lunch....SO, city link 4tw

Amtrak = SUCK
 
Ive voted Amtrak, although they seem pricey my stuff has always been here next working day so I can not complain; but if City Link are better, well then!

Depends on what price you negotiate with the courier. For us, Amtrak undercut Citylink by a small amount. But they were still rubbish so we went back!
 
I will go against the trend and say that i have always found amtrak better than citylink. Amtrak around here deliver very early so i usually catch them before leaving for work for the day. Citylink seem to turn up late afternoon.

Again it looks as though it depends on the area more than anything.
 
Voted Citylink.

My last 3 OcUK 'Next Day' deliveries have been a day late. I have also found Amtrak to be completly unhelpful when phoning for an ETA or confirmation that the parcel is out for delivery.
