So I've been using various disposables and Nicolites rechargables for the last two weeks (two have broken, hence the disposables) to see if I could replace proper cigarettes with them. (I tried a really crap cigalike about a year or maybe a bit longer ago, it was rubbish and I didn't take to it at all).

I've only had one in about fifteen days, that was the other day when my Nicolite thing broke again, so yesterday I ordered an EVOD starter kit of two batteries, two clearos, spare heads and charger and stuff, and a few liquids.

I don't really have anything else to add apart from introducing myself to the thread so to speak.

I do have a couple of questions though:

I usually smoke roll ups or menthol tip roll ups - what's everyone's favourite menthol/mint liquid?

Are there any good double apple flavour liquids? As in shisha flavour? I'm aware that the anise taste will probably be impossible to get out of the clearomiser!

Welcome to the thread. I don't have any recommendations for those flavours, but the kit you have is quite decent so let us know how you get on with it.

I was well chuffed when I saw the result. Long way to go, but I admit I hadn't expected to get the result we did today.

Same here, 3 bought from fastech, all broken in a week
Haven't treated them any different to any other battery either

When it comes to ego batts, just pay the extra few quid. If you get them dirt cheap, they are probably rubbish. Some things are worth cheaping out on, others not. It's like mobos and PSus. They power the whole rig, so get yourself decent batts.

OH ****! Re-coiled my RSST this evening and it's all gone a bit Pete-Tong...pulsed on my ego, so no hot-spots, filled with juice, plonked on my SID @ 4Volts, checked again, whole coil went red so damn fast and then set fire...oops...tried at 3.5, same, 3V and it tastes funky...switched to Watts, nothing is going well on it...give up for tonight, will attempt again when I get home later today...I'd like to point out, I used 0.2 Kanthol and it came in at 1.3 Ohms...

Been there! Coil might be a bit loose on the wick, or else the wick isn't wicking that well.

Ignore, ive decided to buy me an evod kit and work my way up. Seems less hassle to start.

Good choice. A lot of people jump straight onto complex mods and get frustrated. It's better to have something that works well while you get your head around microcoiling and other dark arts :p

I've been thinking about getting a RSST and doing my own coils but reading the problems yas has being having has kinda put me off.

Are they really that much of a pain.

I will not lie to you: it can be a reall ball ache sometimes. When it works though, and that thing just clicks. It is worth it. RSST is really user friendly and I recommend it if you want to go SS mesh.

I used to feel so bleeding edge with vaping but am starting to fall behind just using basic stuff to get my nic. Kind of sad but I'm getting what I need without much faff now.

That's me in a nutshell. I'm considering picking up an Oddy clone for £8 to mess about with, but I rarely pull the trigger on these things anymore. I do need something as easy as my Nova, but with more flavour though.

I officially give up on SS mesh wicks. For now anyway. I always get it "almost perfect" and it just grates on me that it is never quite there. Especially since I once had a wick and coil that was amazing. Why oh why did I break it.

Tried a colleague's ithica clone today and was blown away by the flavour it produced. He did say it was a ball ache to set up though.

Firstly apologies for not reading the whole thread to date, must admit its moving fast and has got away from me...

Looking for quick tips for the RSST, i have got it working well, just wondering if it can be better..

1) ss wick, how tight to roll it to max the wicking? so far i have tried tight and loose without a definite winner?

2) what grade of mesh is best, using 400 atm also what does higher / lower grade mean in terms of wicking ability and juice type?

3) atm i am using kanthal D ribbon wire, with 5 wraps to get 1.3-1.5ohm is this ideal?

4) where can i source replacement tanks for the RSST, glass or juice safe material?

Any other tips for RSSTs?

Ps. I have already drilled out to 2.0mm hole, seem to be spot on for me, i like easy / airy draw

thanks

1: I wish I had an answer, as this is bugging me

2: 400 is a good middle ground, some go to 500. The finer mesh (higher numbers) means less holes and more wire, but I've yet to get a straight answer o how that translates to performance myself.

3: That sounds good! I run 3 coils at 1.8 myself, but mainly because it's less hassle to get three coils working than 5!

4: I've yet to have a tank go bad on me even with cinnamon juices, but a whole RSST can be had for £20 so you could always get a whole spare quite cheaply.

Tips: if it works, don't fix it!

My Dad's been using the Ego starter kits from the local market but he keeps having problems from the battery dying too quick or the tank leaking. Told him I'd ask you guys what you'd recommend him to buy.

He willing to spend anything from £30 to £50 for the parts and he wants it to be rebuildable/interchangable. He said something about needing to be able to change the wick too... not exactly sure if that's important.

Any ideas? :D

Well, he can continue using his ego batteries or upgrade to a tube mod using 18650 batteries for better longevity (or get higher capacity ego batts). As for atomisers, there are a tonne of options out there. Some are very easy to use and maintain, others are very high maintenance, but excellent performance. Protanks are a good middle ground, and he will be able to rewick them to save cash on replacements.

Using ribbon wire because i had some laying around, think it must give more surface area to heat more juice maybe.

Any tips to improve or time to move onto kayfuns and microcoils?[/QUOTE]

Well, the only suggestion I would have is taking the bottom leg and moving it to the other side of the screw to shorten the leg a bit, but it looks incredibly neat and tidy! I'd say you need a fair whack of current to get it going though. I may go for a 4 or 5 wrap next. Mine is pretty gross in comparison! You can see my bottom coil doesn't get as hot as the top two as well. It seems to heat from the top downwards. Still a work in progress!

Have decided to take a break from Ss mesh and have wicked up some silica in my RSST for a laugh. It actually vaped quite well, although a u wick would wick better. Have 6 wraps of ribbon at 1.5Ohms.

Right, it's time for me to branch out. I'm deeply unsatisfied by my novas now, and my RSST is too fiddly to get working well.

SO: I'm looking at getting a Nemesis or ChiYou clone and some sort of dripper to go on it for my out and about setup. What cheap dripper would you chaps recommend that would look good on a nemesis or ChiYou?

I'm on a super tight budget unfortunately, but if it's worth a fiver more for something good here and there then I'll spend it.

Got to laugh right now. Sitting here while a couple of colleagues are having statements taken by the office manager after one of their cheap eGo type cigs exploded yesterday.

So annoyed that I wasn't here to see it, but apparently he had it charging when he noticed it was smelling funny, and was too hot to touch.

Someone else lifted it with scissors and took it away. Upon setting it down, it apparently flared up extremely brightly and then BOOM. Exploded all over, fluid leaking out of it ate through the worktop and everything before going up in flames.

Don't buy cheap guff, folks!

It always seems to be cheapo ego batts. Never trust them!

I'm kinda bored with my cheap chinese eGo + CE5 setup, I want to get something bigger - I'm thinking of grabbing the Vamo V2 w/ Sony batts kit off of fasttech and then a couple of Protank 2's from vapeescape, but I have a question regarding the PT2's heads.. can I buy them with the wick already attached? Or do I have to wick them myself? If I have to DIY, can anyone recommend me a clearo\tank which'll accommodate the size of the vamo and is stainless steel looking.

Cheers

You can get premade heads for a few quid, but it's cheaper to rewick yourself by a LOT, and you could make better coils/wicks yourself.
