Ordered mine last night for sunday delivery so hopefully i'll be joining the 1080 club tomorrow. Then have all day monday to play with it

Yep, I've tried numerous things with vsync off, most I've seen it hit of hand from what i can remember was about 93. Something % that was at 2050mhz boost basically flat out.i did have this power limit problem with my custom 980ti but resolved that with a bios flash, however i haven't seen it hit the limit on this amp extreme.

Really loving the STRIX Ti. Goes with the rest of my system well:

Originally had a FTW3 pre-ordered but glad I cancelled when stock of this beast became available.

Look at your fan speed: 0%. 50C is normal if the fans are stopped. Try increasing it to 20% and it should drop to below 40C. The Gigabyte 980 G1's fans never stop spinning, so its idle temperature will be lower.

best way to find out the best card between two is to underclock and undervolt at 1950mhz and see which chip needs what voltage to hit 1950 stable.

Out of curiosity I thought I would just tried this with both cards before I pack the 2nd card to ship back.

First card does 0.862v @ 1951Mhz
Second card which always hits the Voltage Limit does 0.9v @ 1951Mhz. A difference of 5 bins/positions on the graph.

Ok tried it, 99.6% power usage lol, that's with the slider in afterburner at 120% not sure if it's actually doing anything the power slider in afterburner to be honest.

What kind of temperatures are people getting on the MSI 1080 Ti Gaming?
It's definitely better than my reference card but temperatures increase very quickly and I'm still almost hitting 80C.

Iam seeing 76c after a few hours gaming overclocked to 1950/6000, thats in a warm room with a silent case though.

Seems like it might be fine then. I'm hitting about 77C at stock in a Fractal R5.

I drop about 7C by taking my side panel off, so I may have to rethink my case.

1x 140 rear 2x 140 front and cpu is AIO cooler vented through top. Removed half the drive cages as not required so just have the top half mounted for the SSD. Use to have them behind the motherboard but noticed this caused them to run hotter, so now mounted them in the remaining hard drive cage.

Is the coil whine a thing for 1080ti, strictly speaking Strix OC?

After about 3 weeks of gaming on mine, the strange sounds became audible. most profoundly in ME: Andromeda, which is possibly the infamous whining. Wonder how OCUK deals with this.

Ive got a founders edition that did whine. It was fine with the fe cooler but when put a waterblock on it i heard it whine for the first time benching. But it then just seemed to go away and not heard it do it anymore. must have been all the benching. Ocuk handle it where they will test the card in similar circumstances and if the card whines where you can hear it over case fans and stood/sat near the case then they will do something about it. If you can only hear it woth your head near the case maybe not. In other words it has to be intrusive. But problem is some power supplies can cause whine too. Ive had a psu where my 290x did whine but changed it to a seasonic gold psu and it went away.
