Without increasing the power limit, you can't actually tell if that is stable. It's unlikely to be hitting the top clocks at which point you would be able to tell if 2.05ghz is actually stable on only 1070mV.

It uses those settings in benchmarks and games without issues.

oh well that's quite a difference! 1070mv and 2050mhz on radeon app gives me 2000mhz in game and temp dropped of 20+ degree

Is it worth overclocking the memory? what would an ideal clock for core/memory look like?

EDIT: actually my bad, i was looking at memory and not junction, the junction temp still gets over 100c

Have you tweaked the fan curve and make sure your case fans are providing cool air + getting rid of the hot air.

There is no fans in the H1 :) but i'm modding it to have better airflow, haven't tweaked the fan curve yet

Ah in that case (no pun intended) 100c junction is probably expected. You can easily drop the voltages and clock a some more to bring temps down.

Mine hits mid 70s to low 80s with those settings and I'm using a custom loop.

In what way? It's holding 2000Mhz in game no issues.

If it genuinely holds that clock speed on average then I'm wrong. Are you watercooled? That's the only way I could see those settings being viable without having a golden chip of some kind.

Yea it's in my custom loop. 2x360 rads paired with a 3900x.

Jeez our rigs are similar. Same CPU & GPU. Pretty much same blocks even. Except mine is ITX format. :) And I am on 2 x 240mm rads. Getting similar temps to you though.

EDIT: We've even got the same god damn fans :p

Makes more sense then. If you can keep the temps down then power usage does decline measurably and so the stock power limit wouldn't be a problem. It also usually means you can get away with lower voltages.

Hi all,

I'm hoping you can help me out as i'm having a lot of issues with my PowerColor Radeon Red Dragon RX 5700 8GB Graphics Card.

Like many it seems i'm having trouble loading games, or if i can load them they don't let me play for long before the screen goes black, i get a bhuurr noise and then windows reboots and everything has closed.

I'm running the following system,
  • PowerColor Radeon Red Dragon RX 5700 8GB Graphics Card
  • MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX AMD AM4 Motherboard
  • AMD Ryzen 3700X Processor (8C/16T, 36MB Cache, 4.4GHz Max Boost)
  • Crucial Ballistix Sport LT Gray 16GB DDR4-3200 UDIMM x 2 (32GB) (BLS2K16G4D32AESB)
  • Corsair RM Series RM650 650W '80 PLUS GOLD MODULAR POWER SUPPLY (CP-9020194-UK)
I've used the following programs to test the system,
  • Heaven Benchmark
  • HW Monitor
  • CPU-z
  • Memtest 86
All came back fine with no issues at all.

I have looked around online and found that lots of people have had similar/exactly the same issues as me and have had varying success doing some/all of the following...
  • Clean Windows install - Done this
  • MB Chipset Drive Update - Done this
  • GPU Driver Update - Done this
  • Change from PCI-E4 to PCI-E3 - I think I've done this within the BIOS but its not as clear on my version as it is on some shown in online examples
I can play Planet Zoo & Cities Skylines fine, and used to be able to play Planet Coaster too but that seems to not want to play ball now. I recently downloaded The Witcher 3 and tried that today, it plays for 5/10 mins and crashed the PC. The main game that has caused me the issues was trying to play Scum. It started off ok, then would get past the main menu - it would load up with my guy standing by the fire and then the black screen and windows reboot followed.

Currently i'm at the point that i have reinstalled windows, Steam and Scum. I haven't updated the drivers (AT ALL). Scum will now load up and i can play for 10/15 mins until it dies again. I have read about driver issues so I'm not sure if i should re-download them or what i should do right now.

I know that someone else has had similar issues on here (link) and the general thought is that his issue might be PSU related or the cabling not done quote right. The below if how mine is plugged in and the PSU details are above.

I've had some help on here with this so far in another thread but after doing some tests it is pointing towards it being the GPU as everything else seems to work out all ok.

Any help getting this all working correctly would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks

Sounds more likely a faulty card than anything else. Would suggest RMA

nonsense. power limit only increases the amount of power the card can use. @ 1070mv the card will only pull around 200w

ran my red devil at 1070mv @ 2100mhz for an average of 2000mhz clock. worked fine.

Which is the best value card to go for out of 5700XT? Gigabyte seems to be the one everyone recommends. Never heard of Powercolor but not been "in the game" for a while. Looking at the Nitro+ too.

Are the driver issues now largely resolved? I was thinking of going for this over the 2700 Super to save £80 but I really don't want the hassle of messing around with voltages and crap like that. I'm a plug and play kind of guy!
