Do Nvidia always hand new cards out like candy to streamers? I follow quite a few streamers on Twitter and over the past few weeks my feed has been filled with streamers posting pics of the 2080ti they got given. Even small <500 viewer streamers. They must have handed out hundreds, or even thousands of them.. It's no wonder they're so expensive for us lol :(.
They didn't send my wife one and she has way over 500 viewers and she is super hot too.

Finally got mine last night. Just my luck that the guy made me wait until his very last delivery at 9pm. I had been up since 5am and I was so tired by the time he got here, the best I could manage was to install it and test it to make sure it was working. Yesterday may have been a bust, but today... Today, this thing gets put through it's paces. All I need now is a bigger hard drive and my Threadripper rig will finally be complete.

Sorry no. I figured my best chance to get one as early as possible was to order from a store not as popular as OCUK, Scan or Amazon. I figured everyone would be ordering from those 3 sites first. So I picked a big, but less popular site to get it from. Looks like my bet paid off. Unfortunately, I can't post where I got it from, OCUK doesn't like it when you post competing sites on their forums. So out of respect for OCUK, because I like OCUK, I won't post where I got it from here.

Did anyone in here go from gtx1080 sli to a single 2080ti and if so how was it? I really don’t want to read through 20 pages!
My 2080Ti arrived yesterday and will be replacing my dual 1080s (perhaps tonight, but most likely the weekend).

I'm not expecting dramatically better performance on synthetic benchmarks (perhaps slightly worse even), but it should give me a nice boost across all games, especially in VR.

Let me know how you get on, i'm not bothered about synthetic benchmarks either just gaming @1440p. Quite a few of my games don't utilise the sli at all so was thinking a single 2080Ti even if 5-10% faster than my current setup would be noticeably better.

Before I go fishing the entire internet, I assume it's not in stock right now!

No, it's out of stock. It was in stock for all of 1 hour, 2 days ago. Then it was gone again. They even raised the price on that card to a ridiculous 1582 pounds while it was in stock. Then dropped it back down to 1399 (which is still way too high) when they ran out. Thankfully I preordered back at the beginning, so I got it for the 1159 MSRP. Says they're expecting it back in stock on October 30th, but I wouldn't put much stock in that. They change those dates almost daily. So much so I almost didn't believe it when they finally sent me an email to tell me they had got one in stock for my order. Had to reauthorize the payment, then called them to ensure they allocated one to my order before they ran out. I got lucky. I just happened to check my email at the right time and catch them quick enough to get it all sorted.

So am I best to leave Volts at 0 in Afterburner and just up the power limit when overclocking?

You should use boost curve set the voltage even lower than +0 voltage settings on main Afterburner page. The lower the voltage the less power you draw, which means more headroom. Turing overclocking rules for non extreme overclocking are this: as low temp as possible, as low voltage as possible, as high power limit as possible. And also use great memory overclocking, +1000 is nothing unusual on these cards and in some games that like more memory bandwidth memory overclocking is responsible for at least half of the gain you get from overclocking.

Did anyone in here go from gtx1080 sli to a single 2080ti and if so how was it? I really don’t want to read through 20 pages!

I have been using 1080 SLI for almost 2 years with a great success and now I have 2080 Ti Sea Hawk. 2080 Ti is around equal to 1080 SLI with scaling at 1.8x, OC vs OC. Which was also the average scaling for me, so I could say that 2080 Ti is exactly 1080 SLI, only you get this kind of performance everywhere, regardless of SLI support.

So for example, in games like Tomb Raider, Assassin's Creed games, Nier Auomata and other games where SLI scaling was 1.95x, 2080 Ti OC is 10% slower than 1080 SLI OC. But in games like The Witcher 3, where scaling was only like 1.55x, and where 2080 Ti performs very well, the difference is over 20% in favor of 2080 Ti.

So you could say that going from 1080 SLI to 2080 Ti is like having the performance of two cards in one, with the only exceptions being games with exceptional SLI support at 1.95x+ scaling, where 1080 SLI has up to 10% lead.

This also means that both had done a very good job. 2080 Ti replaced two cards, which is what you would expect from next gen flagship, and 1080 SLI provided next gen performance 2 years earlier, which is exactly what SLI is about.

Price of 2080 Ti is also not an issue for 1080 SLI owner, because thanks to high Turing prices Pascal cards didn't loose any value and you can sell them for very high price.

Example in Polish prices:

I sold my 1080s for 1750 each, meaning I get 3500 back, and I bought high-end watercooled 2080 Ti for 6000. So I paid 2500 for the upgrade.

If 2080 Ti came out for 3600, like 1080 Ti, and if Pascal cards received a price cut just like Maxwell did (980 was then discounted from 2400 to 1800 for new ones), used 1080s would go for around 1000-1100, and high-end 2080 Ti's would be at around 4200. So I would pay 2000-2200 for the upgarde. Hardly a difference.
